Really, though, I'd love to see a new Mech Commander as well.

A. third person was **** awful in MW4, and it would be in MWO too, ever try to fire a round that actually works in physics and has convergence in the third person? sooo many mountain/wall/building misses.

B.it won't effect gameplay any more than it effects WoT. if anything, people who will play 3rd person, they will suck more than in the cockpit.

C. as said, they arent going to mix modes.

3rd person perspectives are for strategic games, not tactical simulations. This game, like many other 'simulators' already have, would become a farce, an arcade game. If you separate 3rd person matches from 1st person, then I'll be happy to play in only the 1st person matches. Otherwise, I'll be ending my particpation. In order to be competitive with 3rd person, you have to play in 3rd person. I generally dislike playing games in 3rd person, but in this case it's simply not how I want to play at all.

You believed Russ when he said they wouldn't put 3rd person in at all either right?
Or they could get DHS to work by maybe the 3rd time of trying?
Or they could balance LRM?
Or they could fix the net code?
Or they could get a MM in place that worked?
Or they could implement in game voice seamlessly?
Or they could put a proper in game tutorial in place that would bypass the need for 3rd person altogether?

Don't care as long as it doesn't grant additional bonuses from using it (i.e. 360 camera radar).

If the models still only rendered in the client based off their 1st person perspective while *in* 3rd person mode, then no big deal.

If that isn't the case, that it will in fact allow player to get MORE information than someone in 1st person mode. You have to allow us to choose who we play with, I will NOT play with 3rd person people if the feature grants bonuses.

I'm here for the simulator NOT an arcade game, there are TONS of those that do it better.

I'm not going to read through 24 pages of the whinefest so I'll just voice my opinion and reiterate what's likely been said.

Russ stated that torso twisting has proven to be a hard concept for new players to master.

The game has no worthwhile tutorial, even the videos done with NGNG leave huge gaping holes in the information needed for an new-to-the-franchise player to succeed. Give them the tools to become a better player within the current system and you will negate the need to waste your already precious programming hours to a option that will A) divide the playerbase and create animosity between the two groups, B ) create a game mode in which a explicit tactical advantage is present for those who choose to use it, over those who wish to experience mechwarrior as you originally intended it and C) solve none of the problems which exist in the current build which turn off players (ie "netcode", crashes, matchmaker, poor performance, limited assets and maps) and yes I know much of this is on the hotseat for being fixed.

We, well some of us, understand its time for you to make money in order to secure a hopeful future for the franchise. However, rather than trying to appeal to everyone and grab every last gamer than strays onto the site, finish creating the game we were all boisterously excited to play. Fix what is there and let our enthusiasm spread and expand the player base for you. Fix it because each day that passes you will lose more players to the glaring faults than you will bring in with something as controversial as 3rd person view.

The same players that you wish to court with 3rd person are the same players who will leave to play Hawken anyway because "Its faster and you can heal, and it doesn't have that clunky Sim BS".

They are predisposed to this! This is like thinking you can turn that *** girl straight if you just act more feminine.

A. In MW4 the convergence was the same in 3rd person as was the accuracy.

B. The ability to see over hills and around corners is exacerbated when your tank has jump jets.

I believe that someone has already linked the poll. My vote is no. It takes away an important part of what makes this game feel like a simulator... and gives it a nasty, arcade-ish taste that just doesn't fit what this game should be.

No. I do not want to see a 3rd person perspective to be implemented. For many of the obvious reason stated by others (seeing around corners without having to bring yourself out).

I've voted on the poll and I'm saying here now, do not like this idea.

I think we have other fish to fry.

No 3rd person view. It breaks immersion / point of the game that you are a mechwarrior piloting a battlemech from inside the cockpit. The only way you get "3rd person" in a battlemech is through the use of the Clan E.I. implants.....just saying.

I would, personally, be highly disappointed if 3rd person view was implemented. That is not a mech simulator but rather a generic big robot shooter. Furthermore I would feel that the money that I spent to support this game was wasted. I don’t understand why the devs have back flipped on something that was stated as a core aspect in closed beta.

I think that should, hella I hope it does, send a clear message to PGI on what the player base at large feels about this.

Make a kick-butt intro tutorials, DO NOT CHEESE OUT YOU STILL HAVE DO THAT WORK ANYWAY!!!

Seriously... I have not seen one issue that is overwhelming in favour of a single choice..... and that choice is:

For 3rd person shooters the ability to shoot from 1st person view considered unfair due to precise targeting and such...and for 1st person shooters, the ability to pick around the corners and observe terrain from higher point of view considered unfair. I think the balance here will be broken if PGI implemented (or try to) both of them - The hunter who chases two rabbits catches neither one :)

All of the Kerenskys agree, 3rd person view is what led Amaris to kill Richard Cameron. It would only lead to 3rd person rooms dominating the 1st person queues and lead to the mechwarrior none of the Kerenskys want.

We saw it before in MW4/MW4Mercs and it did not end will for 1st person view. By the powers of Kerensky, it must be stopped.

Join All of the Kerenskys in saying "No!" to 3rd person view!
