I would love to have the 3rd person view!... I liked it in the previous mechwarrior games and I want to have the possibility to have a look at my mech from the outside ...but only if it won´t affect the gameplay in a negative way. I think that the guys at PGI know what they are doing sooooo  I gues I´m just gonna have faith in them :D

I warn you PGI. If you put 3rd person into this game. You will lose the majority of your players, and with them, any income you would have made. I would tread very lightly if I were you.

I, for one, would immediately quit playing and go play something else, support a different game with my money. Moreover I would probably demand a full refund for all monies spent by me up that point. I purchased my founders pack because it was said to be a FFP game only.

Please dont ruin what is promising to be an awesome game, before you even get it out of beta. All to please a very small percentage of people. If they cant play FFP then they can always go play MW4.

Absolutely not!

If you want the 3rd person view so much - make it a module, that launches a remote camera. That can be shot down by other players, have poor visual quality and limited flight time!

I red all the topiic from the beginning and got strong feeling, that all those who crying about 3rd PV will be pretty happy with some playgroung or boot camp or test field where they can take screen shots of them self and show off on forums and places like that.

P.S. I'd like to have some place to test my loadouts or heat generation in come cases

In the right mode it's fine. In regular competition it shouldn't exist.

I do wonder: if we stop talking about it, will Devs take that as a sign, that we are cool with it now...

Can someone elucidate a difference between indifferent and no opinion?

Simply no... Why? Because you can abuse the third person camera around corners and terrain if you know what you're doing. Furthermore, it draws away from the feel of actually piloting a mech. Instead, it turns into just another third person shooter with a mixture of weopens.

Indifferent: I don't care either way
No Opinion: I don't know yet.

Based on them continuing to play the "if we do it, we'll make sure that..." tune I'd say it's obvious that what we think is completely irrelevant to their plans to take over the world by using third-person view to poach millions of players from other games.

The third-person question isn't one of "if," but "when." The relevant question at this point is if they'll stick to their word on being able to segregate yourself and never play in mixed first/third person games, or if that'll go the way of first-person being such a "sacrosanct" "pillar of the design."

And the question of "Will they start sticking to their ideals now that they've created a furor by throwing them out for growth/gain" is sort of a self-answering one once they've shown a preference for profit over integrity.

Just add it as an extra flag for matchmaking - "Yes" "No" and "Both". Saying "yes" would allow it in matches you join, saying "no" would not. "Both" would queue you up for any match. It has zero effect on you personally if you say "no" in the matchmaking. Would it increase the queue times? Maybe. Force it off no matter what for pre-made groups and such. Random solo PUGs wouldn't even notice the difference, I have yet to join a game that hasn't nearly instantly started, or taken less than a minute to fill both teams.

Every Mechwarrior game I can remember playing has had a third-person view, even if there's a host option to restrict it in multiplayer. It's not like this would completely destroy the game any more than ECMs, LRMs, SSRMs, premade groups or any other feature the flavor of the month forum QQ topics have covered.

Personally I voted "yes". As long as it's not available in every match (as I previously said, there would be a matchmaking option to say 'yes' or 'no'). I personally would use the "both" options and end up using first-person view anyways. In a game like this you wouldn't even be able to tell who's using what. It's not like in other third-person shooters that have a first-person view mode where using first-person is an unnecessary handicap. Maybe it will let you see over objects you otherwise couldn't, but the tiny fraction of very situational gameplay affected by this is so small that you would never even notice the difference.

Using basic statistics methodology: For a population of 60,000, to attain a 95% confidence level, a 5% margin of error and with a response distribution of 50%, you would need a recommended sample size of 382.

In other words we are 13 times over the response needed to draw a confident conclusion on this issue.

I would go so far as to put this in the category of "overwhemling."

I voted for indifference but I would like it just to look at my mech some times in battle.

if they implement this, it should be a 1 ton probe camera like on those uav and m1 tanks and you have to click to use it, also no cross hairs or any other info, its just for vision. http://1.bp.blogspot...ator_ground.jpg

other wise having over 180 field of vision with no downside is not a simulator anymore.
