You assume I am referring to the size of its chest. You assume I don't know how to shield my damaged parts and you assume I don't know the size of the hit boxes....You assume much. On the note of guarding areas, "if" this is in fact an issue and I did still protect that area, how would I be able to compare damage actually being taken to that area if I'm protecting it?
after many constructive answers to your question, followed with continued snarky responses by you, we can also ASSUME that someone is rather buthurt.

People keep throwing this out occasionaly but I've never seen it happen.
Additionaly the catapult's head partialy shields the CT as it's hitbox is located on the "nose" instead of the cockpit.

I only parrot it because I've experienced both AND from both sides. I've seen my own internals hit before my armor was even scratched and seen it happen to enemies targeted with R. I've been cored oddly early from a small amount of fire in a mech I've played often enough to know it doesn't usually happen this way from so little enemy fire. I've two-shot an untouched atlas that was fully repaired, and I know my damage output usually takes more than two shots just to breach an Atlas's internals.

lol yeah that must be the case. You know I was merely sharing an observation. Unfortunately it required I put my "but" on the line. I was exspecting people to give the obvious excuses, and more allot of people to be skeptic, not to be rude. I am OK with being wrong.
At least I was honest in what I shared, in the midst of my peers. Instead of watering it down to appease.

There is a chance to get crit in the engine which will kill you before you are red on internals (it's been a bit overzealous), AND some weapons will hit/damage internals THROUGH your armor (you'll see damaged internals as soon as you get hit sometimes, it's NOT the paperdoll bug, and it has been happening at least since October). These combine so that it is completely possible to get one-shot out of bad luck.
I don't know if you've seen your paperdoll wear down all the way, and it looked to be happening too fast, but if that's not the case, this odd critting might be happening to you.
Ty frenchtoastman, that's actually helpful information.

maybe your "im dying to fast to blasts" are because people are hitting you that much easier, its much harder to hit a smaller, faster moving CT then a slow lumbering CT that's huge.
i know this is not rocket science but in a world where i have to train average joes at work as to which is the elevator door close button versus the open button (there is only 3 damned buttons on the freight elevator call, open, close) i have absolutely no faith left in the human race.

I do not believe there is a glitch, but sometimes you just die all strangely, sometimes things get crit'ed.

Edit: Engine crits currently do not destroy the engine or disable the mech. They only make repairs more expensive. They will be fixing this "soon". The only way to destroy a mech currently is to destroy the section with the engine in it.

Every once in a while the armor gets reset to default values... dropping FOUR TONS of armor off the mech, (from all 3 torso, arms and legs) ...
I have no idea what causes it.. but I will drop a few rounds and die really fast... then realize I am missing all that armor (again)... and have to PAY 40k c-bills to put it back on.

gosh, reminds me of a time in my Commando when I looked up and I saw the sky literally turn orange with incoming missiles, so I ducked around a mountain and just hit there and waited for 9 seconds as they bombarded my mountain.
