Seriously we need a tutorial already, how can this game be close to release without one?

That's how you help the new players, not some crappy 3rd person view. There are plenty of things new players have problems with, torso twisting is JUST ONE of the issues.

Rebuild the MechWarrior 2 or 3 tutorials and call it a day.

That would be nice indeed, with 3rd person the devs are only kicking themselfs in the balls after they announced 1st person only earlier.

A good in-game tutorial is all we need to help out new players.

This thread title is 100% true about a lot of issues with MWO. It's upsetting that PGI doesn't see or realize it. Rather than fix the root problem they patch the result of the problem.

It's like having cut brake lines on a car. Rather than fixing the brake lines before they drive, PGI waits until the car crashes, then fixes the damage to the car, but leaves the brake lines cut.

They should get the guy who did 'Deadeye' Unther from MW2 Mercenaries to guide the newbies along while they're at it.

I swear I still have all his lines memorized. I played that game too much...

Fixes the damage to the car AND tones down the engines so you can stop with engine-brakes in my opinion. :P

Yes, tutorial and practice area is the answer.
Giving option to lock torso to feet will also help until they want to strap on their big mech pants.
