damage taken its is an important metric, it will help show new players that its possible to absorb lots and lots of damage, not just point your ct at someone and let them core you in the most efficient way possible.

anyone not spreading damage likely thinks they die super fast and dont get why others dont. this would help when they see the same mech they were in absorb 4 times the damage per match and not die.

Sort of like the "Steel Wall" achievment in WoT's... given to the player that's taken the most damage on a team... OVER a certain amount...

Would be interesting tho to see that damage taken stat at the end of battle... just too see the punishment absorbed at times...

the biggest thing it would do, is for the new player, seeing some players take 500 damage to die, and they died in 80. then they may ask how that happens. once they know, we all get better games, more closely matched.

I think this is a great idea, but not only in end-game stats but on your statistics profile as a whole. Things I would like to see in the stat-profile as well are:
  • Damage/match
  • Spotting/match
  • Kill-assist ratio
I am sure there are many other stats that would be quite useful. I want some things that show teamwork and I think that scouts get hosed with what is presented. I personally love a good scout that can spot targets, relay useful intel, and aid me against those pesky light mechs that like to shoot me in the back.

it would be nice if scouts got the damage done to targets that wernt in line of sight from anyone but the light, say lrm damage on the other side of a hill. the scout should get that damage as well as the shooter.

but damage taken is my #1 most top priority to get in, spreading damage is just as important as focus fire, if not more. so very many dont get it and only ever point straight at the person they are fighting, even when cooling down. i think if it was in the stat screen at the end of a match, people would just do better at spreading.

+1

The more stats they track, the better. Anything that can be quantified easily, should be.

I've always said I want to see every possible metric tracked (within the capabilities of the engine and server). Show all of them to players on their stats page, and allow custom ratios to be set up - let folks compare any two or even more metrics so they can judge their own performance any way they wish. Then, allow each player to enable sharing of any individual metrics or custom-made ratios they want! That way sharing is off by default, for privacy, but people can share if they wish.

gonna bump this once more, i really think that above all other stats shown, this one will help new players the most. if they could just see how quickly they die, when they just stare at the enemy, then they would likely do something about it. i kinda wonder if alot of puggers even get the concept. so many just walk right at their target, not only getting in the way of team mates from focus firing, but also making it very easy to kill them. if they could see that 80 damage killed them, and the people who survived had over 300 damage, they would ask how they did that, or figure it out.

Agreed, let us see why the random players we are teamed with died.

I hope this is implemented so players may use the info to improve their gameplay.

If you are working as a team, damage you take is damage that someone else on your team did not take. I regularly communicate with my teammates my armor status. Whoever is in the best shape tends to lead, but will fall back once they start taking focus fire. Two of us have taken out every mech on the enemy team using this strategy. It is especially important that heavy and assault mechs do this since they may have the same fire power as a medium with more armor. If you let the mediums take the hits, they go down, decreasing your team's overall effectiveness. If the heavy or assault takes the hit, he has to buy new armor. No big deal.

So, yes, +1 to the OP

I'd love to be able to see everyone's ending "paper doll" showing armor/condition at the end of a match ... part of the fun is taking about how beat up you were when you single-handedly cored those last two assault mechs ...

I like the idea very much.

If you could see damage taken, and what the mech is it would be great.

The role of bullet sponge is actually VERY important in mechwarrior. Sometimes you become the target and you go defensive to soak as much fire as possible while your mates smash those chasing you.

Tactically this is great work and should be rewarded and acknowledged.

Damage taken stat at end of game would be great!

I play tanky Atlas,i get stuck in,i try to draw fire from as many mechs as possible so my team mates can fire freely,i find it a really fun way to play, though sometimes the guys im on comms with think im a little too suicidal.

Just tonight in a drop on Frozen city,2 mechs appeared in the cave,i led the charge in only to find that in fact the whole enemy team was comming through, with the rest of my lance and 4 pugs behind me i waded into all of them, got shots off where i could, spent most the time shielding my CT with my arms.30 seconds later 5 enemy dead, the other 3 legged it back the way they came while the rest of my team gave chase.I was heavily damaged, but still standing, job well done.

Make some of these stats available on your profile page then offer an advanced pack that tracks everything for a couple of dollars a week.

Breakdown by weapon type both received this and delivered.

Hit/miss %

Who you killed and who killed you..mechs and players.

Maybe even have a super advanced pay option allowing review of battles . mechanism movements etc.
