this was an important feature i used a lot in MW4, for example you can aim you left arm weapon without exposing your center torso or head to damage,
if it is not possible i will post this in suggestion

Hold the left control key (can be rebound) and look around with your mouse.

Arms aim at the cirle reticle. They should be aiming where you look if they're withing their arc of fire. Note that some mechs don't have arms...

Just a quick tip, the Raven (and probably Catapult) have enough torso-twist to pull a free-look 180.
Useful for when you need to dodge enemy fire, or check for enemy chasers.

It definitely works with the Ravens wide view, but I'm not so sure about the Catapult.

I remember this feature. You could swing your left arm out toward the left side while your torso remains facing straight ahead. You could also free look in cockpit(to the left) to see what you were pointing at.I think it was in MW3 and MW4.
