No wonder it sometimes feel like I'm stuck in Tourmaline or Alpine hell.

And yes I have played ridiculous amount of matches since OB started. Exactly 6562 to this moment of last edit.

I wish I could select the map... but I rolled 2D6 and got Alpine. Dice rolling sucks in this game.

Those two maps where weighted for a while, and the tracking of map stats started just before the release of those maps. That is the reason why you see more plays compared to other maps is because their weighted lifetime since map stat tracking has been alive was higher.

This will also be true for all maps current on that list when compared with new maps being introduced due to their lifetimes being longer since they have been tracking map stats.

If you actually take the aggregate scores of maps + variants (such as Forest Colony + Forest Colony Snow) you'll notice that you're not really playing on Alpine / Tourmaline any more than any other map.

If you take River City and River City Night as one "map" you've played that 491 times.

I find river city (regular or night) is the most frequent map.

It is currently the only thing that keeps people from choosing their prefered meta build for the map. Just imagine if people could choose Alpine --> 2x8 (2x12) ppc boats, probably all stalker. Normal player could quit right away.
