I have specialized long term in light mechs. While I'm learning to back stab and scout, I often find I am more useful as an Atlas-knocker-over then if I were alhpa striking him with my best weps.

I've begun to set it up beforehand, telling them which mech will go down and at what moment so they can blast away on its back or whatever while it cannot fire.

While I generally scout and fire my ER PPC from a distance, I am now thinking of removing all weps except flamers for that extra bit of damage as I close to knock into them, and putting all the spare tonnage to leg and forward armor.

Anyone know the mechanics on knockdowns? Sometimes it works and sometimes not, but it's fun.

Thoughts?

I always liked the Jenner from my tabletop days. So sad that the namesake of my favourite mech spawned the Kardashians (Bruce Jenner, Olympic Runner).

Anyone have cool experiences in the Jenner?

I'll add a couple. Teabagging a Catapult using jump jets. Death from above on another jenner that was jump jetting upward when I came down on him: mid-air collision!

I may never pilot a Jenner again now that I realize there associated with Bruce Jenner and the Kardashians.

Can't tell if troll or serious...but...

My god, do us all a favor a pilot a different weight class. You clearly have the wrong mentality for piloting a Jenner. Knockdowns are a last resort (except when wolfpack tackling another Light with your wingman). Flamers? Seriously?

Jenners with good pilots EXCEL at interdicting other Lights, flanking the enemy main body, harassing the main body (IE hit and run tactics - chase the squirrel!) and picking apart stragglers / rear line Mechs (LRM boats, Guassapults, etc).

This isn't my video (same load out though), but this is the intensity and usefulness of a good Jenner on the battlefield.

If you can't / won't play like this, I'd recommend a different chasis. Mediums make better PPC snipers as you referenced above (good speed and heat capacity).

I have seen good Jenner pilots tear through an entire lance because o one can get a good shot at them. Using your Jenner as a bowling ball is really not the best use for a light scout.

If you only find lights useful to tackle enemies, than you're doing it wrong.

You may take longer to destroy an enemy, but you're also harder to hit. These two things go hand-in-hand. Use it to your advantage.

No, I say he is doing it correctly.
But he is mising a few things. First he must do only short hops with his jump jets to emulate the flight path of the noble Jade Chicken. He must always run around at full speed so that when he is killed his body keeps running for a few steps afterward. Also the flamers and ER PPC are excellent choices. Use them a lot as pre-cooking the myomer is vital to my secret... strategy.

I would agree, the top tier of Jenner pilots are skirmishers/harassers. These are the ones that are addicted to speed but understand that you have "dance on the throttle" to make quick slashing turns and sow confusion on the battlefield.

Don't get me wrong there's nothing bad about playing support, but I find that other chassis (like the Raven) are better suited to it if you're wanting to be in a light.

Thankfully the Jenner is named after a much more important Jenner, Edward Jenner, an Englishmen that is responsible for none of us having to ever worry about Smallpox ever again. Edward Jenner is a legend and should be more well known, but not as well known as me, Dear Leader Kim Jong ilKhan.

Jenner is a big Mountain in Germany near the Eagles Nest^^.

What is the best engine for a fast Jenner. Buying a XL-engine only for trying seems to much expensive to me.

The only engine, for a "fast Jenner" is an XL300.

But right now, with the current state of the game, I'd suggest getting a Raven, or Commando, instead.
