Love the game and have been a big fan of the MW series (and books) for a long time.

A couple of things which really need to be fixed (which I consider game ruiners) and before the **** hits the fan with OMG its beta - I know this but that can only be an excuse for so long... Esp now that they have opened it up to the public.

Need more servers other than USA - I can list off 2 or 3 other games that I am in beta for which have more servers than MWO - I hate shooting at something and for my rounds to go completly to the left / right of its intendend target - esp for weapons with limited ammo such as the AC20. This is the biggest game ruiner in my opinion so far. Being Beta is no excuse to not have servers in other countrys!

Pub stomps. I understand that the match making is work in progress. But seeing as people have spent money on this game and that to my best knowledge there isnt going to be a Cash reset unless something goes horribly wrong.... Then having a "squad" on one team on TS / skype ect vrs a team of (lagging) randoms is rather unfair. Having 4 mechs shooting at a partucular part of a mech at the same time = one dead mech. It can still be a fun match - although pretty much always one sided.

Also - just out of curiosity... When will this game ever stop being "beta" - I ask as a free to play game dies if they stop adding content - so they are always going to be fixing bugs. There are (from what ive read) no more resets. So technically isnt this game now full blown up and running now? Esp now that it is free to play for everyone else other than paying members. Maybe someone can shine the light on this for me.

And yes... Im guessing the developmers are most likerly awear of these issues. But they are making what could be a great game rather unenjoyable.
Well thats my rant done - time to sit back and see the responses. Anyone else having these issues?

Unfortunately PGI is a small company and this is their first online multiplayer game- I imagine those "other betas" are from companies with larger workforces and larger budgets and more experience.

Matchmaking changes are all coming- They already removed one cause of "pubstomps". 8-man teams were much more pwoerful than the current 4-man teams. Coming soon, there will be an actual team vs team queue, so the team players will be fighting other teams and the solo players will be fighting other solo players. Keep in mind, even with 8 pugs vs 8 other pugs, a match can still be 8 - 0; you cannot blame 'teams' every time a match goes one-sided. I've seen plenty of pug games still go lopsided either through teamwork or a single powerful player racking up 5-8 kills.

MWO will eventually move to an officially "Launched" game(no longer a 'beta'), but there will still be content delivered monthly. We are currently in a public "Open Beta" phase. The game is still in development but they needed to reach out to a larger playerbase than they had in closed beta.

What? Teamplay beats clueless suicidal morons? I never would've thought so. There's nothing stopping anyone from joining one of the many great unofficial VOIP servers, other than a disinterest in teamplay, and if you're not interested in teamplay you *should* get wrecked by those who coordinate.

As for regional servers, I agree. The game would be a lot more enjoyable to me with European servers, but it's at least passable after the last patch.

Yup agree with that and not blaming teams. I just came up against two teams in two matches who were openly telling people in the chat at the start of the match that they were a team and prepair to get stomped. Lost both times. Not a good look for all those new players just joining that game.

Yeah I guess you could call the other beta's larger companys. But lag in any game is a killer. How do they expect to make an enjoyable (profitable) game when they are limiting themselves to just the USA? They have said themselves that they are all FPS players and gamers. They should know how much of a game ruiner lag is. it makes no sense. They have made the game open to the public - they need more servers if they want the game to continue and not burn out imo.

Haha I know all about teamplay and not complaining at all about that ! (I just wish my dayz / BF3 clan were interested in mechwarrior!) But if you are going to add the abiltiy to play with friends in a team, then the logical step is to add team vrs team rather than just leave it in the public where the randoms with no means of communcating (but typing) or the chances of ever playing together again are pretty much non exsistant. That way it would at least become a challenge.

When the game gets more momentum, IE core game is more developed, I am sure they will invest in multinational servers. Right now I would take the lag with a grain of salt because like I said before I would rather they spend my $120 on developing the game properly than spending that on a server. It may seem biased to say that because I live in NA but I think you can see my point.

Their server is in Canada, not the US.

I'm sure they would love to open more servers elsewhere, but they simply do not have the manpower or capital to do so at this point in time. They said months ago that EU server was in negotiations, but no news since then.

Yup, I still remember that guy who berated PGI for not being as fast and efficient as EA / SONY Online Entertainments Planetside 2.

I think an order of MAGNITUDES is the difference in the size of those design teams.

That's the plan for phase 2 of matchmaking, which is due next tuesday.

In regards to the servers - I get that they are a small company and dont have the same resources as other game developers.

What I am trying to get at is opening the game up while just keeping the servers in Canada (thanks Redshift2k5) seems counter productive. While I have no doubt at all that they will open it up to the rest of the world as soon as they can. At this point of time however, the game at times is shockingly bad, to the point where it is unenjoyable at times. Now to become successful, they need players. But players are not going to want to play on servers that at times, are rather unplayable / unenjoyable with lag.
