Supposedly, the PPC has a minimum range of 90m. My impression is that it still fires and hits things below 90m - I've not managed to work out if it does any damage in that range, however.

Has anyone experimented with this? Is the minimum range actually implemented? And if so, how?

Yes, minimum range has been implemented. Damage is reduced under 90m. The closer the target the more it is reduced. I don't have numbers handy but it has been tested by players.

It's assumed to be linear drop from max ro zero at 90m-0m.

So supposedly it's 5dmg at 45m etc.

I can confirm that damage is actually done below 90m and it should behave the same way like lasers.

ERPPCs deal a full 10 damage at all ranges within 810meters; only the normal PPCs deal a reduced damage within 90m, linearly reducing with 5 dmg at 45meters and basically 0 damage at the barrel, but between 90 and 540 meters they deal a full 10 damage.

PPC-type weapons deal full damage out to their max range, then deal reduced damage beyond that point until at twice their max range they deal 0 damage (same rules apply to laser weapons).
  • The ERPPCs ("max" range of 810m) are down to dealing only 5 damage at 1215 meters, and do no more than scratch your paint at 1620m.
  • Normal PPCs ("max" range of 540m) are down to only 5 damage by 770 meters, and are just a visual annoyance by the time they get to 1080m.
