The community as a whole has no problem with 3rd person if it is restricted to:

1) A tutorial/trial ground scenario where a new player can see that is how mechs operate
2) Spectator/Deadman's Cam
3) Post battle replay Battle ROM

The entire community with few exceptions is against 3rd person in all other instances.

I also think it is highly overblown. Pretty much like the DHS thing last week, which you don't hear anything about anymore.

My only concern is that unless there are a lot of players, splitting the community between 3rd person players and 1st person players isn't a smart thing to do.

The DHS issue is not overblown and far from quiet. PGI hasn't responded, so many of us are waiting for their official position on the 2.0 sinks across the board. The community has established how things are currently working and have indicated that we like it, but want the full DHS which does not appear to break the game as PGI originally stated. When they do finally address the issue (presumably next week) you will see all sorts of activity once again if the decision is indeed in the wrong direction. Of course, it may take us a day or two to make sure that whatever the actual implementation is matches whatever they say it is supposed to be. We've been down that road a few times now.

No, the sky is fine. MWO is fine if very basic at this point, PG needs to follow there vision, and take some community advice, but still needs to manage player expectations. As long as PG can make a financially healthy game, if they have to bend or break some rules frankly i don't really care, even though i have followed BT for decades.

I am far more worried, that PG launched far to soon, with lack of content, that its going to run into problems on that end, to be concerned about DHS being 1.4 vs 2.0, or taking up 2 crit slots vs 3, or having a 3rd person camera.

The real sky is falling issue, is going to be about the community warfare, and ability to reproduce the BT/MW universe, with factional warfare & mercenaries being able to function in it as they please. Right now, the game is fun, but so repetitive that once you get a few mechs decked out, there really is no reason to play anymore.

personally, i think they should have waited for another 6-8 months for open beta, and allowed founders packages to be sold up until the game released. Most people who purchased founders, will probably never buy anything else.
