I just played a game where i alphastiked a jenner in my atlas. His ping was 83ms mine was 67ms. He was shutdown overheated, i was stopped not moving AT ALL 23 meters from him.

I hit him dead center torso with a 65 damage alpha.

It registered ZERO damage.

WTF

And how do you know they aren't?
Patch is next week, surely you could have waited a few more days before posting this thread?

Also, everyone knows the netcode needs work. Including the devs. So whats the point of this thread exactly if everyone already knows?

If your only goal is to bug the devs like a little kid bugging his parents while his doing the pee dance so he can go to the bathroom then you're just wasting everyones time here.

I imagine the team handling the netcode is different from the team handling say, weapons balance, map design, bug testing, mech design, making paint jobs etc. There are teams that work on these things, transferring man power to one area when teh manpower likely has little knowledge of the area doesn't help make things get fixed faster.

More then likely. Usually, most people who do programming don't actually do or even like doing networking and vice versa.
I know a bit of networking(mostly because I have too), but I gravitate towards programing. So not only would I rather not do networking, I would be pretty bad at it. Its far better to just have someone who actually works in that area do it then just throw other people at it.

They have been saying that for 3 months at least, i have no doubt they are working on it but think they need to move it up the priority list. The rest of the game and content is irrelevant if we cant play it due to crap netcode.

Then what is the point of this thread?

I can't possibly see this thread accomplishing anything outside of wasting a minute or 2 of someones time.

I'm sorry, but this thread lacks any purpose.

They are not putting it off.
It is an on going and very important process.
It is also not an easy process either.

The point is i think they need to prioritize the netcode, i thought i made that obvious.

You have NO idea how much better the game is now then it was in early closed beta. Since that time is still under NDA I'll say simply this.

They are fixing it. They HAVE fixed it. Netcoding takes time and there is a team specifically dedicated to it.

Sooo I would suggest doing something constructive instead of complaining about there being snow in alaska.
They alread know. Its already being fixed on a daily basis. Get over it.

If they were to fix the netcode lights would be instagibbed. Then they would have to "roll back" hit detection for balance.

Hey you shouldn't be so hard on PGI, they have other much more important priorities like 3rd Person View.

I disagree, I believe the netcode was better before the mid sept patch when they added the new engine. Both firing delay and hit detection was alot better pre new engine patch.

I actually think the netcode has got worse since then.

I believe reverting to the old engine till they sort out the netcode would not be a bad idea.

Hit Detection/Network Movement Code

We are rolling back some networking code fixes. This will address many of the hit box issues currently in the live environment. The rollback does not fix the problem entirely, and we are working hard on improving the overall experience vs performance. This is a long term engineering task and a top priority internally.

This thread has far more "point" than your complaints about it.

And asked I how you know they aren't?

Have they specifically said they aren't?

If you're only proof is a time scale with out any actual timeframe of how long it WOULD take to fix it. Then what you have here is baseless.

The only thing someone can pull out of this thread is essentially the same thing everyone else knows.

And even if we do take the prioritising thing and we actually assume that the devs are brainless and have completely ignored the netcode of there online only multiplayer game. What is making a thread about it going to do?

We both know that they'll lock this thread, then say they noted it and that would be the end of it. If they honestly could not care about having a working game of any sense for this long, then they honestly couldn't care less what you, me or anyone else here have to say.

So, again, whats the point of posting this?

This was in part the reason for this thread, they are making ******** announcements like adding third person when the core game(netcode) needs so much work. How can third person be a priority(i wont even go into how bad of an idea that is anyways) over fixing the netcode.

IMO they should halt all other content patches till they fix the core game.

Team working on netcode isn't the one working on 3rd person view. lesser priority items can be finished before top priority items if they are less complex or troublesome. And throwing more people at the netcode problem won't help fix it. Heck throwing more time per day will have diminishing returns how how fast it would get fixed. I seriously wonder if people have any idea how priorities and different teams working on different things work in the real world.

There's probably a couple of programmers tearing thair hair out, wondering why the different codes they are trying isn't improving performance. As a programmer, I've been there.

People would have to play them like they were intended and a lot of light pilots would be have their egos bruised because they aren't as good as they think they are, most people still have yet to realize you need to shoot anywhere from 1/2 a mech to 2 mech length in front of a jenner running at max speed to hit it.
