What? Follow the instructions step by step.

You copy to a installation folder.

You then run installer after other steps to put it in a new spot.

Ok thank you. I was just a little confused about that.

I've manage to get Mechwarrior2 working in 3dfx in Win7 64 bit following your instructions but I've noticed that moving the mouse during the game (torso tilt/pan) noticeable slows down the game (framerate drops to below 20fps). This seems to only happen with the mouse, moving the torso with the keyboard doesn't drop framerate.
Is this a bug in the 3dfx version or can it be corrected?

Yes, I've noticed the same thing. This exact same lag also seems to happen when you hold down the recenter torso button instead of just tapping it. Maybe it's something about the engine that just doesn't like repeated torso position requests?

Hmmm I don't have a slowdown with panning at all. It might be your graphics card / cpu aren't fast enough. Since you are using a wrapper to simulate calls to true 3dfx hardware (that is virtual), it does put a little more load on your system (though not nearly as much as say an emulator or virtual machine). I've even set it up to use my joystick/throttle/pedals through mouse emulation on the HOTAS and had no such problem as you describe. Strange.

I will say though I get large amounts of slowdown in the Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries 3dfx version--and unfortunately I don't have a flawless way to get that one working yet.

I wish this would work on mine. I get a compatibility error any time I try to launch the EXE's. Apparently windows 7 x64 even with compatibility mode is too advanced to even run it

This has been working flawlessly for me for a while. I have played numerous instant action missions as well as the first 5 missions of the Wolf campaign. My biggest complaint was adapting to the old controls after playing using MWO controls. I did some digging and was able to find a method to change the keymaps in the input and gamekey files.

I changed to a WASD setup and remapped their original bindings to different keys or adding a shift to the sequence.

Wireframe was remapped to "k"
Shutdown had shift added so it is now SHIFT+s
Autopilot has shift added as well

This did not initially work so I did some research and discovered that previously stock bound keys could not be altered. Someone discovered that adding an asterisk allowed the key to be used. So here are some screens of what I did. You can do whatever you like and I am thinking of remapping further but this works great for now.

I also did this for JETTISON_AMMO SHIFT+k
I did not put an arrow next to the autopilot bind but it is there. It is SHIFT+a

Just open the files in notepad and edit away. Make sure to make copies in case you mess something up.

If you are having an issue I can email the two files to you and you can copy them into your game folder. Just PM me if you need.

It is actually the 3dfx version, but I believe the Titanium version works as well using MechVM.

You can get some more info Here.

I know this is like two years old now, but I have a quick question.

It says "Installing Direct X may override your previous video driver".

Is this a concern? Hoping two years later, someone will still see this.

You are not alone in that - though I have started to put it down to my PC disliking emulators, as I have not been able to get anything emulated working on this thing :D
