Look at the link I provided. The damage and heat numbers are there for all weapons. Figure it out.
ETA the short answer to your last question is yes.

2 ERPPCs per arm would weigh 28 tons, and generate 52 heat per shot. You'll have to de-engine to fit that much equipment, so you're looking at maybe 6 internal HS (or DHS), and 4 external, as you're going to have a hard time getting any extra heat sinks.
Even with DHS, your heat capacity is going to be 30+6*2+4*1.4~ 48. This means that the first time you fire, you'll be shut down for about 2 seconds. Fire again, and you'll be shut down for nearly half a minute.

However, 2 ER PPCs on an Atlas is very viable. You can chain fire them indefinitely. You can even add a Gauss onto that.

Medium lasers are the most efficient, well rounded & versatile energy weapon in the game. For the speed of an HBK & the space for heat sinks, it's probably your best bet. Small lasers are even more efficient per ton & per heat, but range is very limited. PPC's do not currently do the EMP damage they are supposed to, they generate huge amounts of heat for a low amount of damage per heat/weight & I wouldn't do it. Others might say go for it. Ferret really answered your question. Ohmwrecker provided the info for us all that PGI should have included in the game long long ago. That is pretty much all you should need to optimize your builds. I think MLs got a recent buff. So did LLs. Higher fire rates often translate into more damage done & faster kills. Damage per second is more important that damage per shot & with a PPC, you will need to be good at placing your shots. Other than gaining range, I see no advantage. Good luck

i had lots of ideas for loadouts but after looking at OhmWreckers guide i have concluded that im not gonna be able to use any of my ideas cause of the weight limit of my current mech.
