Try a new class of mech. Also take a look at the mech guides section and try out a new build on something you do have.

Be more attentive. Take note of your failures and what your enemies do to succeed. Stay after a game is over and watch your team mates. Frequently check the map for enemy positions and friendly positions. You will recognize when you should fall back and when to advance after enough games. If something constantly beats you, try playing it.

I personally find some maniacal laugher while shooting your guns to have a profound effect on removing the rigidity of ones playstyle... And if you practice making your laugh sound more insane after each battle, I'm pretty sure it'll eventually stick. As for returning back to normal however...

"Stay after a game is over and watch your team mates."

This is really good advice. I needed to see people torso-twisting to get a proper idea of what it was about. Driving a Centurion, with its left-hand shield arm, has also helped encourage me to get better at it.

Watching other players is also helping me slow down, measure my shots, and stay cooler under fire.

Finally, getting onto teamspeak or similar is always a good plan for learning better tactics.
