Attaining visual and sensor parity between 1PV and 3PV is the key to a balanced implementation.
And since we've seen the average balancing capability of PGI (ie, "utterly incompetent"), it's a safe guess that this visual and sensor parity will never exist in this game. Maybe in the same universe where bacon is good for you and the check really is in the mail...but not where PGI exists.

$5 off eBay, X-Box 360 compatible. Or you can persuade someone to make MechAssault 3.
BRB gonna go play Mechassault 2 again.

Honestly though, I'd much rather see some destructible environments. Come on PGI, at least give us some falling trees! They're so easy to implement!

The nightmare of 3rd person will be that once it's implemented, and the community fractures....it will be very difficult to take away.
Better to NEVER enable it.

Just add the Halo physics if they cannot control the legs separate from the torso. It turns where you look so their torso would turn but the legs would always line up. Or the best idea is to add a key that will center your legs with your torso!!!! ..... oh wait we already have that and still we need 3rd person?

Arm lock? Torso lock? Brilliant!!! Wished it was there when I started. But then I had to learn mouse and keyboard because I never got my joystick to work well enough. Heck!! still learning m&k as far as that goes....

I'd love a new MechAssault for the console

Since they have stated that one of the purposes of adding 3PV is to make it easier for people that have trouble dealing with leg turning vs torso twisting... it's intuitively obvious that "visual parity" will not result, and is not their desired goal. 3PV users, at the minimum, will be able to see their mech's legs, the orientation of those legs, and nearby physical obstructions. Otherwise, there is *nothing* at all to be gained for those people having problems, (which is why PGI was looking into it, per their own statement).
If you can see your legs in 3PV, you do not have visual parity with 1PV.
If you can see low obstructions in 3PV that you would not see out of the cockpit in 1PV, you do not have visual parity.
If you can see a Raven-3L humping the side or back of your leg in 3PV, you do not have visual parity.
That's just if they only make the minimal visual information available to the people who don't grasp leg turning vs torso twist.
What are the chances that the implementation will exclude showing damage/impacts of weapons fire upon the legs / rear torso?
Will mechs close behind yours (but not quite touching) be visible?
Will PGI go to the trouble of coding some magic 3PV disappearing scheme for mechs that wouldn't be visible from 1PV? If they do, what percentage of the folks who want 3PV so badly will be satisfied?
If people still can not figure out how to pilot a mech in MWO, even after watching the training videos and practicing for as long as they want in the training grounds, then they still won't have a chance in this game; even with 3PV, they will just get frustrated and quit.

Thank you for bringing that nightmare again. I truely apreciate it brother.

Still he has a point, this is fast becoming Mechassault rated Teen.

Cause I think people don't always want to spectate when some mechwarrior pilots out there make us sick with their spastic driving.
Just my 2 cents...

That would still be an unfair advantage, because the dead person could view around corners and relay the info to their team via chat or VOIP.

Would that be the devs who specifically weren't going to add Coolant Flush, then did it anyway? Yes, separate queues is what they said just like "no Coolant Flush" is what they said.
