I'm assuming everybody's going to answer "Succession Wars"/"Clan Invasion" and nobody's going to answer "Dark Age", but let's vote so we can see the numbers for sure.

Succession Wars era. It's was the "current" era when I started playing the game, so naturally I'm gonna be biased towards it. Besides, I prefer it for the dirty, gritty feel where mechs were as often as not valuable family heirlooms passed down through generations and painstakingly repaired time and time again because so much of the technilogy needed to create new ones had been lost. That feeling was almost completely lost when lostech and clantech hit, and the Inner Sphere suddenly started churning out one new mech after the other. Suddenly being dispossessed was no longer a big deal. After all, chances were you belonged to a house unit or a merc unit whic could afford to replace your ride with a shiny, new mech straight off the factory assembly line.

I am torn between Fed Com civil war and the Jihad. I will bit the bullet and choose Jihad, because no one else will do. ;)

I'm going with Clan Invasion thats when i started. I think Jihad could of been nice if the story was better. I do Like the mechs, battle armor, vehicles and fighters that came out of that era. DA only a hand full of mechs and vehicles were nice.

I'm actually surprised to see the Succession Wars beating out the Clan Invasion. I always figured in my short time with BattleTech that the Clans were pretty popular. Maybe it has something to do with everyone's nostalgia for MechWarrior 2.

I loved MechWarrior2. It annoys me to this day that I can no longer play it because it won't run on anything more recent than Win98.

I voted Clan Invasion, though I don't have a real favorite. I came into the BattleTech universe as a Clanner, knowing no other factions, and though I enjoy certain of the later 'Mechs, technologies, and events (like the Rasalhague Dominion and the Savage Wolf), certain other things are just utterly absurd about the later periods. That being said, after the fall of the Terran Hegemony until the rise of the Rasalhague Republic, I don't have a faction I feel like rooting for before the Invasion, either. (Without going into the never represented Periphery.)

Have to say the Sucsession Wars. Where else can we get the first sighting of the grey Death, Kell Hounds, Wolf Dragoons and other great merc units. Keep the early stuff alive and build on them

Nah, DosBox ran both MW 2 and MW2: Mercs for me perfectly.

What are your specs and what method did you use?

PM me the answers, I do not want to spam a thread. ;)

I chose Clan invasion because Jihad and DA really do not exist in my mind. Those alternate realities were negated when the Clans ACTUALLY succeeded in returning to and liberating the IS after the five year deadline was over.

Hey, 3050 has not yet happened in MWO, so everything after the Clans invade (if they ever do - I am just saying) is what we all make up.

;)
