Not sure if its been suggested. So if It has forgive me

I know MWO wants to stay away from the MMO feel with persistent worlds and such.

But it struck me today, why don't they have a 'social' area? Much like APB online FPS has.
Its just a small map where people gather, manage setups, chat and give tips to each other, find groups to ready up and goto the 'action' districts.

They could them by factions once they are in,.and have "faction areas" sort of 'HQ maps' for each faction.
It would add a bit of interaction with other players before game and a feeling of 'belonging' to the factions once they are in place, and more of a 'cohesive' feel to gameplay as you would ready up at your HQ and be sent to battle.. It added a great element to APB without making it feel MMOish at all.

Preferably just as a pilot and not the mechs you can pilot, that would just be insane. =P

If we do that it'd mean more work. Avatars for everyone and environments. Not really much value either. For the most part this would just end up being obnoxious and pointless.

Yea, but that would need them to make pilot models, not sure if they would do all that.
But would be nice, could be terminals you goto that loads the screen you see with 'home/mechbay/pilot bay to setup your mechs and ready up.
Its the one thing the games seem to be lacking to me, any sense of "interaction" with other players.
And one thing that keeps people around in a game after the 'shine' of the game wears off, is the people they met and made friends with in the game, logging in to team up and play with them.

It worked rather well in APB, it was a FPS type game like here. But the social areas tied everything together like a hub. So it wasnt just a feeling of just repeating "quake 3 like random matches".
