Is this thread locked because the information provided by the moderator is completely wrong?

If so, Wouldnt it be better to edit it so its correct or delete it completely?

No, info is correct - normally you'd unlock elite on 3 HBK variants in order to unlock master on HBK. I didn't know that you could unlock any 3 mediums, but it's kind of moot anyway - you need to unlock basic on 9 mechs in order to go down that road.

.Blerg deleted my whole post accidentally ..............

So let me try again to understand .. is this true..

Having unlocked Master Jenner I can now get a single commando to master level without unlocking elite skills for 2 additional commando variants? I will now only have to unlock the basic efficiencies for three commando variants and then stop there?

EDIT: where is the information on this posted on the website? They used to have that long unwieldy post trying to explain the ridiculous system when they introduced it which was followed by 100+ pages of ppl saying wtf! Surely there must be some sort of information provided somewhere?

Correct. Once you have a Master Jenner, you can get a master Commando if you have 3 Commandos with all 8 basic efficiencies unlocked. You only need to get elites unlocked on the Commando variant you want to get Master on. You don't need to get elites unlocked on the other two Commando variants at all.

I'm not aware of a clarification guide or anything of that sort.

And I've heard no news of a possible change in the future yet. Though the requirements seem odd now, to say the least.

The earlier thread was locked because the issue had an easy answer - the answer can fully resolve the query, not for any other reason. Threads are left open when the issues are not resolved yet.

And you really shouldn't claim information is wrong without at least attempting to test it.

Please shift discussion of whether the system is good or not, and proposed changes to either the system itself or the documentation (or lack thereof) of the unlocking system to the Suggestions thread. This forum is meant for addressing problems, not so much for talking about what to do to make the system better.

Thanks.

Thanks for the explanation.

I didnt claim anything was wrong I asked if thats why it was deleted. I couldnt see why it would have been otherwise which is why I asked.

The comment about the system is included within a question for player support, I think its appropriately placed if not appropriately phrased.

It's definitely worded oddly, probably because the way it works right now is not the way it was originally intended to work. Whether the original intention was discarded, or the current implementation is not final is unclear.
