So I work in hospitality and sometimes reading this forum (and every other game forum I ever come across) shows the same disregard for manners and common respect.
Is MWO your energy provider? Are they piping your air? Or is it a recreational outlet that is supposed to be fun?
When people moan to be about their food, their alcohol, or lately their dog they sound a lot like you people and it makes me sick.
Just because the developers are taking money does it mean they should be spoken to and their work spoken about like crap? When something clearly is NOT crap - the game functions well enough that many hundreds of thousands if not more players log in every day - there is no need for this shocking shower of venom.
If someone's food is cold or a beer has gone flat, most people in the service industry are happy to swap it for you because - frankly its no big deal. The same goes with bugs, graphic fixes, and other things that the game developers and the staff at PGI are working on.
But when someone sneers at you, talks in derisory fashion, with tones of self entitlement just because you paid some money - it becomes a grinding chore to continue listening, let alone caring, about what you're upset about.
So, not forgetting that open beta means the game is still in a testing phase and is 'open' because it needs to test its system with a larger scale of players/variables, why don't you ALL chill out and earn some points on the karma scale.
Sneering and being nasty doesn't earn you anything and frankly, people in the service industry laugh about you fussy customers, you sad individuals who get off on shouting at people in the supermarket or down the phone about your bank balance.
Really we don't care any MORE because of your vitriol. So the same, no doubt, applies to PGI and every other games developer I've played games by.
The things that make people like us, in the service industry (gaming included), want to deliver an even better service -
- genuine customer appreciation
- manners
- respect
- empathy
Lastly - if you think you can do a better job, apply for a vacancy and put your mouth where the money is.. or whatever that stupid saying is.

A.D.D. much... ?? In short... check the Posting Etiquette thread...

Keep in mind that being able to post here is a privilege, not a right. If you are insulting other forum members or making the forums in any way a hostile atmosphere, you will be warned, and/or depending on severity, banned. Consider the following things when posting:
- Is what you're saying a useful contribution? Are you trying to start a fight? (Common Sense, everyone)
- Has this been talked about in another thread? Possibly, in many other threads? Use the search function!
- Is what you are about to say advocating and/or making light of criminal activities? (Chances are we don't advocate that, nor think it's funny)
- Intentionally posting false information, or making false statements.
Far too many don't bother with any of this and just spout out whatever vitriol they want... far too many threads that should be shut down or merged with existing ones crop up every second...

That's how forums seem to work nowadays. Company makes an amazing product and then people rip it to shreds with "this game is crap" or "do this and we'll all quit playing"
The trick is to not let the whiners and plain trolls get to you, which can be very difficult at times. The devs and GMs are still polite, friendly, and helpful and I believe that speaks a lot for PGI and its employees.
MWO is a good game, PGI has good employees. Its just unfortunate that the critics and trolls are louder than the people enjoying the game.

>nowdays.
You're implying several dangerous things with your TL;DR post, I'm sure, but I don't feel like reading anything except that one word.

Nowadays here in the UK too.
+1 @The OP's post btw, people splosh some dosh and think it makes them the King of town.
Others see that it's possible to spend some money and think the same thing, despite having even less reason than the first group.
Vassago's post above just goes to make the OP's point for him.
Some people want to complain - sure, there may well be genuine issues, but they enjoy the argument more than they'd enjoy the product if it were faultless.

Because it's always easier to notice the things you dislike and talk about them, than actually talk about all the things you like and enjoy. Especially so if you can do it "anonymously" and while only facing the targeted person in your imagination, not in reality.
Most people would never dare to go to anywhere near the extremes of behaviour you see on virtual forums every day if they had to deal with the persons they are discussing with in reality, instead of through the forum.
Same way as it is much easier to answer "no" to an email than it is to say it out loud to someone pleading to you for help on the phone.
Sadly most of the things on forums like these are just things you need to educate your brains to filter out. It's like when you work in military and see some things which at first disturb you, but after seeing them a few times your brains filter them out.
Though I do have to say there have been a few people on forums whom I would have loved to see in reality, just to find out if they would dare to say the same things to my face. Maybe go to the meeting wearing my uniform just to see the effect?
Thank you for your post, unfortunately it will get buried really quickly in all sorts of other things. Not to mention the amount of posts coming here from people who did not read it fully or at all.

Its not really acceptable amongst adults and I guess the devs did a good thing pointing out its a private forum and started to control threads as for the younger generation to see older players behaving like that it just furthers the problem.
it's almost as though there is some attempt to gain kudos by retreading the same complaints
