2x LPLas
2x MPLas
2x Streak srms 2's OR 2x SRM6
lots of people seem to say that the pulse lasers are worth the extra cost (weight & cbills) if you can manage the extra heat.
so a month or 2 ago i changed my C1 build to this.
its not amazing. but it gets the job done, even if it does it in a rather dull way.
has anyone else tried doing this?

Try also this: 2xPPC 2xMLs, endo, 300 engine. Does the job even better, IMO.

I find that LPLas are lacking in the range department.
Ordinary MLas has 270m range while LPLas has only 300? not worth the extra+6 +7 heat & +6 tonnage.

I've seen more and more Catapults running in this config. I personally feel it's because we've lacked a "traditional" heavy up until this point- Catapult is traditionally an indirect fire-support mech, and the dragon is a speedy harasser. I'm very excited for the Cataphract.
How do the Large Pulses work for you? I've been having great successes with large lasers lately, but find Large Pulses just too big and too hot.

Ive been playing around with the lasers too much to have too much of an exact say.
but now i find 4 Mplas and 2 srm 6's with Artemis seems to be doing better then most.
im only running single heat sinks and a standard engine mainly because im a tight@$$ when it comes to repairs.

Not a big pulse fan here, but 2 large lasers and 2 SRM 4's makes a cool running hard hitting build.
Stock 260 engine and DHS lets it run cool on everything but Caustic where I just chain fire the lasers to help keep it cool.
It is very flexible, can sit back and snipe or do direct fire support. If running with a group that has LRM's I'd add tag to it.

I turned my C1 into a Ghetto K2.
That means no weapons in the arms, 2 PPCs in the side torsos, and 2 Medium Lasers in the middle torso. And a lot of double heat sinks.
And then I ditched the PPC for ER Large Lasers. It worked much better. More Range, Less Heat, no Ballistic Convergence nonsense bullexcrement, similar damage.

My C1 build is fairly simple and effective.
I have 2, 1 300XL is DHS, Endo, 2 MLAS, 2 LRM20s + Artemis and 3 tons/launcher.
The other is 2 SSRM2s and 4 MPLAS with that 300XL.
Both are fairly effective, and run about 81 km/h with the speed tweak.

I only go Pulse on Mediums/Smalls. Large Pulse is just too big/hot. Plus I definitely like the fact that if you can manage full beam time (not really all that hard compared to Pulse 0.25 sec longer) on a Large Laser your benefits in heat far outweight the fact that you only did 1 less damage per laser (2 extra heat per laser). On a C1, I'm sure you'd bump into less heat issues if you could decrease your heat by 4 every recycle time on your LPL's, and waiting an extra 0.25 sec between shots only helps you in the long run, as you get rid of more heat as well.
But you also gain much more range. LPL is 300m full damage (600m max range), and Large Laser is 450m full (900m max range). That's a whole lot of range increase, and gives you an entire salvo before you can even fire the LPL's into another mech. So you gain 9 damage per laser, then lose 1 damage per laser when you get in close to the LPL. I don't know about you, but most fights I'm in, don't last long enough to get off 9 entire salvos of big lasers. So the benefit in damage is there too. Not to mention you pick up an extra 2 tons per laser.
If I were going to build a C1 today with a focus on big energy weapons. I'd probably go 3x Large Laser, 2x SRM-6's, and load up on DHS, engine. Keeps you rocking at longer ranges, and the weight savings vs. 3x LPL is 6 tons, that's a lot of DHS there! So you pretty much run cooler overall, and can fire an entire extra salvo at the beginning of the skirmish. Plus when you get that first shot off, they are less likely to get into range. If they do, you lay into them with the SRM-6's.
There is only one (1) reason I can think of to run LPL over Large Laser in the current environment. And that is the fact that 4xLL doesn't headshot people. Where as 4x LPL does. If you can land entire duration on their head. Since the C1 can't run 4x big energy weapons, I don't think this is really an issue at all.
If you were an Atlas-RS on the other hand, you could make a play for 4x LPL over LL. But you then need to get within 300m, and be able to line up headshots on any mech foolish enough to either stand still or power down in front of you.
