I've noticed that people are tending to alt-f4 when they're about to die. I'm not sure what the benefit to doing this is, but right when I'm moving in for the kill, all of a sudden they're disconnected.

The game registers this as "player killed ..................." (blank), and then I don't get credit for the kill.

Need to fix that.

The dubious "benefit" is that they are trying to preserve their k/d ratio. Yet with the current stability issues, I wouldn't worry about it too much - my client crashes roughly once in 3-4 matches.

With the state of the game those people are probably crashing to desktop. The only way to know for sure is to be the person that disco'd. Don't forget that when someone is about to die they ussually have all sorts of extra stuff going on effects wise. It is not the most stable game yet.

Dont you have to pay for repairs if you get gunned down..? Thats a possible benefit.

No, often this is like they go dark in combat moments before they die after a hard-fought battle

Yes, it's K/D ****s. I'd love "farmers" like that to be added to their own little ring of jerkery where they'll never get a kill again for all their opponents disconnecting before death.

Note the devs' farming post:http://mwomercs.com/.../66088-farming/

In particular, "Quitting/Disconnecting Early - While Still Alive / You will only receive rewards up to the point of disconnection."

In other words, even if it does spare you a death on your K/D (has anyone tested it to see if it actually works?), you don't get the 75-100k CBills for simply being there. Are there any mechs that can make money doing that?

It should definitely be fixed, but in the meantime it does no good for those who do it. Except for ego padding.
