Hi all,
I wonder if at each rounds load up sequence we could begin in the drop ship. Once all players are loaded into the round the players then drop to LZ during the count.
Included in the drop would be all the probables that happen in drops; displaced locations of mechs, damage from hard landings, damage from contact with lance-mate's during drop, to all out destruction of mech due to player side non involvement of drop. (thus destroying BOTs and farmers before battle)
In the drop/countdown to battle start, the players have to activate their breaking rockets in a predestined amount of time; Too soon and u start battle late and risk of being displaced from LZ. Too late u take damage but start battle earlier and displaced from LZ. Of course fire the braking rockets at the sweet spot and land with no damage and exactly on LZ.
There could also be conditions in certain maps such as River City, were one team is already on ground and the other team drops in.
I truely believe this would add a level of fun, flare, and tactical challenge to a round. Maybe even open up other avenues of battle/round types.

This would be quite interesting, breaking early could give you a bit of control on your drop zone, allowing for interesting places to find a mech, like an atlas on top of a building or the bridge spires on city while breaking late can get a scout with jumpjets as a extra assist to the battle faster and give an extra surprise.

There are a ton of different ways to implement drop ships in this game. This sounds slightly over-complex for newbies, but I support something like this for sure. Or defend an LZ/dropship. Or just a purely aesthetic drop. Bottom line: this game needs some form of dropships.

Who cares about complex! MWO should feel an obligation to set itself APART from a cooler looking form of WoT. Witch right now MWO IS a cooler funner form of playing WoT. Besides, anyone who has played Section 8 knows about high altitude entry. Unlike Section 8 I would hamper your ability to maneuver your decent, if at all.
This is Mechwarrior/Battletech; A game from its start not meant to be point-and-shoot simple. So lets add another item to the idea and limit the fuel in our rockets. It only makes sense since the rockets are disposable.
No doubt we need dropship involvement but I offer this idea not only as a long term game feature but as a feature that could be implemented now while in Beta.
