I recently was giving the LBX10 a go in a dragon, and I was on rivercity, duking it out with a circling commando in the water area, and I noticed that my LBX round were being stopped by water. So I started aiming higher to only hit the top exposed part of the commando(this was at point blank range) and because of the pellets spreading out, the lower pellets would still hit the water, and cause the entire round(all the pellets) to be blocked by the water.

The same thing was also happening to SRMs, which was my secondary weapon on the dragon.

I also had 2 medium lasers, which did appear to hit the commando even through the water. I wasnt really sure though as a teammate lobbed LRMs over and killed him.

Anyway I found this rather annoying that the entire LBX shot was blocked if 1 single pellet touched the water. Same with SRM

PGI... fix it.

I hope the Flea won't be too small/short, otherwise it'll be submarine warfare.

That link is broken. Its makes my browser to go crazy and I have to force shutdown my computer to stop it. I have firefox.

Either way, its better to start a discussion about it so others can confirm that it happens and report other similar issues with water and weapons that I havent seen.

Water is an issue unto itself still. This thing if it comes together and i do hope it does. It's gonna take "Baby Steps".

Do not go into the water with light mechs, they are usually 75%+ immersed, and thus take reduced/no damage. Additionally water resistance has not been introduced so they move at 100% speed and still retain their lag shield.

Well the LBX actually has a long range, but beyond 100 meters its garbage. I might even say beyond 50 meters.... The spread of the LBX10 needs to be reduced... alot, by like 99% to make it viable.

Ill explain how bad it is.. if I were to shoot it at 3 mechs standing side by side at the LBX's farthest effective range... I might be lucky to hit 1 of those mechs with a single pellet.... if Im really lucky, I might hit all 3 of them lol

It's not a bug, water now has an effect on projectile weapons (I don't remember what patch this was introduced).

I've never tried to purposefully fire an LBX (or SRM) so only the bottom margin of the AOE is striking water

I will test this and followup with my results.

Theissue being discussed is, if some of the area-effect of the LBX hits water, then all of the lbx pellets are blocked, including ones that did not actually hit the water.

Yes but... being totally underwater blocks your vision. You can still see your reticle and targets though
