Originally built in 2003, removed and added parts here and there. Latest upgrade went to the hard drive went for 500 GB IDE to 1 TB SATA, previous to that was the motherboard. I have a Antec Nine Hundred case
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811129021 and someone spilled like a quarter size drop of chili in the top of my case through the top exhaust and it landed on the video card a Radeon HD 4890 OC that I had paid like nearly $300 for about a month prior.
That drop of chili landed on the underside of the video card (the card installs bottom up in the motherboard) and when I powered it on after coming home from military duty, the screen made some wonderful colors and the computer shut off. I tried turning it back on and it wouldn't come back on. Upon opening up the case and inspecting, I found the chili. It fried my video card, motherboard, power supply, and 2 sticks of ram (4 GB of Cruical Ballistix DDR 3 ram).
Thankfully, everything else was sparred, 2 x 250 GB IDE Hard drives (which one later failed and I replaced with the 500 GB IDE drive), extended USB ports, DVD RW x 2, CPU, misc. others.
So in my rebuild I found out my processor had 2 cores that were locked, and the CPU was marketed as a dual core 3.1 GHz processor, but with this GIGAByte mobo I could unlock the other two cores and basically it became a Quad core 3.1 GHz processor which can be OC'd to 3.3 GHz with sufficient cooling, etc.
Anyways, the system as a whole is a little dated now, but 2 years ago this thing was a beast. Even now I run the highest graphics in everything I throw at it Crysis, Crysis 2, Mass Effect 1 & 2, Diablo 3, you name it this ****** takes it on like a champ lol. But looking at some of your specs I can't help to think, I need to rebuild again, but I don't feel it gaming and computing power wise...
One thing though, how come on this computer hardware profiler does it say CPU speeds 1891, when Windows & AMD tools says 3.10 GHz????
