Killed themselves, normally overheated.

Lets see...

Bob has Killed Smith

therefore what happened was Bob killed Smith

unless you mean when is says. "Bob has Killed" and there is no name after, that means the loser disconnected before the kill was registered.

it means the pilot killed themselves. This can happen by overriding shutdown for overheat too many times, running out of bounds, or jumping and (de)legging themselves.
There is usually a (minor) penalty for doing so, they only receive cbills and xps up to the time of their death.

if your nearing victory by destroing the enemy base and the enemy is closing in is it good or bad to override shutdown to pump out more damage at the risk of blowing up??

you should only overheat if it'll destroy the last enemy in your vicinity.
otherwise you're giving a free cockpit shot to someone.

I'd expect it usually means they CTDed and then their mech walked out of bounds.

You can't destroy the enemy base. All you can do is capture it, which doesn't require you to fire any weapons. Just stand there.

Yes that is correct. Shooting it does not actually lower the bar.
