Was thinking about this when pondeing on new game modes. Something that would really make this game a bit more special in it's genre.

Why not make short lines of missions, maybe 3-5, that follow each other depending on your results in it. This would greatly add to the immersion of the game and the finish would really feel like you did something, not just click on next battle and repeat.

Think of it like this:

- You select a mech and start.
Some ideas could be to select more than one mech, to select a line explicitly vs being on one at random chance.

- A mission starts with a certain objective that might affect the next mission. Be it "defend a dropship while it's getting ready" or "destroy it before launch". Or "scout the enemy strongpoints / Prevent scouting" ... or miriads of others

- then the next mission will have an objective depending on your results in the last one. Maybe even be something completely different.

- Your mech is locked in that line until it completes.

- Members of a line should stay the same if possible, but missing players could also be merged from several running mission lines of same type. Hell, you could even get reinforcements from other players just starting a line.

All of this would make thise battles MEAN SOMETHING. Not just grinding and grinding...

What'ya'think?
