A quick easy way to get some people interested in the game again I think would be a 1v1 duel option.

I had in mind a system whereby both parties know each other and challenge the other to a duel, but a random system wouldn't be horrible, either.

You can use the existing maps, just choose sane spawn points reasonably close to one another.
