Hey I just wanted to see if there is anyone interested in talking about the 45 cal Kriss Super V carbine. To me this is the best non-restricted semi auto gun on the market. It was originally a 45 cal sub machine gun for the police and the military but they wanted to make a civilian version they could even sell in Canada so the makers of the Kriss chopped it down to only fire semi auto and they put a 18" barrel instead of the 5". I've watched a few videos and have read some reviews and I have to say I would love to have this gun some day, specially since I live in Canada and our gun laws suck.
Check out this video of the gun

One of my favorite guns, but I'm not sure how I feel about buying one if it's only in semi auto.
Looks like they run about $1,700 - there are a lot of guns I'd buy before that.

Personally I am a huge fan of the Tar-21, and I just love my CZ-58. Both are available as non-restricted in Canada.

You can get plenty of cool guns in Canada that are non-restricted. So long as it doesn't have automatic, has a 18.5" barrel, and is pinned to 5 rounds, and isn't an AK-47, it is good. I suggest you check out:
  • SKS - Anyone who likes history knows of this weapon.
  • CZ 858 - A semi automatic version of the Czech vz58. It looks like an AK-47, but is a totally original design and shares no parts commonality.
  • TAR-21 - Isreali bullpup with great accuracy. I hope you have alot of money if you want to buy this gun.
  • XCR Light - Really sexy, modern rifle, a notch above the M4 and below the ACR. Ambidextrous. Comes in 3 calibers and 3 camos. A little pricey however. Recommended for Tacticooling.
  • Su-16F - Super lightweight, foldable rifle by Kel-Tec. Not pretty, but sure as hell practical. Third of the price as the above 2 options. The foregrip doubles as a bipod. Nutnfancy gave it a perfect review, 10/10.
  • Sub 2000 - Another by Kel-Tec I want to get. Pistol carbine that uses Glock or Sig magazines chambered in 9mm or 40 caliber S&W. As a pistol, it can hold 10 rounds instead of 5. Only 4lbs and it folds in half.
  • Kriss Super V - You posted it, buddy. The recoil suppression is awesome.
The Su-16F, XCR, and the TAR-21 are all capable of using AR-15 magazines. Some AR-15 magazines are designed for "rifle caliber pistols", and therefore, not designed for rifles. This loophole means you can hold 10 rounds in of 5.56mm instead of 5 rounds. Although I only know of 2 magazines that fit this description. One of them is purpose built for the XCR-L Micro, and will fit in a XCR-L Rifle. There are no magazines on the market that can legally hold 10 rounds of 7.62mm in Canada, as there are no 7.62mm pistols. So the SKS and CZ are limited to 5 in all circumstances.

I'm not listing all the awesomesauce bolt-actions of course. Mosin Nagant is a classic.

Let's not forget about the Mosin-Nagant. Good, rugged, and can be bought for around $100.

I'm not going to tell you what to do, but I could get 6 Sub-2000's for the price of 1 Kriss. :P

Also, .45ACP is expensive, especially for plinking. The S2000 uses cheap 9mm, but has the muzzle energy of a .357 Magnum since it has so much more barrel then a handgun. With +P ammo, you could punch through steel.

Forgot about this. I can't tell you how many times I end up taking my Beretta 92FS to the range instead of my M1911, for just this reason. .45 ACP ammo is about twice as expensive as 9mm ammo. It doesn't sound like too big a deal now, but it does add up very quickly.

you guys know damn well it only takes 10-15 minutes to undo any semi auto mods to full auto weapons that made them legally sellable and turn them back into full autos.

but why would you want too, you shouldnt need a full auto assault weapon for anything if you arent robbing banks or killing cops.

Question for the poster: what are you using it for? If you are hunting, well, strike SMG's all together.

The Kriss is a cool novelty. But I wouldn't get it because of the price, and because I would get swarmed with 13 year olds yelling "ERMERGERD VECTOR I SAW DAT ON CAWL OF DUTY WHAT PERKS YOU USIN' BREH?!"

What I would use it for? Well mostly for target practice that's why I like how there is almost no recoil, hunting and home protection if I need. I also like the stopping power of the 45 as for getting the Kriss for just the novelty, well maybe I am but it dose have a lot of good qualities to it and I had a crush on it ever since I saw it on future weapons in 2004,.I had no clue there was a civilian virsion =p I'm sure I'll pay big for the ammo too but 1000 rounds for $330 would last me over a year I will only get out to shoot it 5 or 6 times a year

Actually, that's an urban myth. If that was the case the weapons wouldn't have been approved for sale by the BATFE.

If you want home defense, there isn't a better option. Although wacking them in the head with the stock would be better in Canada since defending yourself in Canada is a crime punishable with prison. <_<

Also, if you are a wacko expecting a zombie/nuclear apocalypse, absolutely go with the SU-16. The thing weighs 5lbs and has an effective range of 500m.

Well defending your home there are loop holes for shooting people who come into your home there are a few cases of it happening in my province each year and in almost all of the cases the home owner did not get charged.I'll keep my mind open about getting a differnt gun buy I think the Kriss has me sold

You're in Canada and you want to buy something other than a real, Swiss-made SiG SG550? Dude, that's so wrong on so many levels!

As far as the KRISS is concerned, it's a neat design, but the early models at least had more than a few problems. Again, SG550 for the win. Best Kalahnikov clone, evar. SCAR if you can find one and you don't want the SiG.

ETA: Nutnfancy is one hilariously f___ed up dude! Every time you listen to him, God kills a kitten, a puppy, and a baby.

Non-Restricted where is the fun in that. The whole reason I went out and got my license was for restricted guns. The only non-restricted I got was my shotgun. The only real firearm for home defense.

.22LR is unlimited Mag's, its why .22LR is best ammo type. ;)
Also; SVT-40's are a nice gun. They run about 350 and give a good ol' show, I mean its a semi-auto nagant whats not to like?

The C4x Storm from Beretta is a good little bullpup carbine if you like 9 mil or .45 rifles
