In their current state, no.
LRMs require a dedication to in terms of the weapon itself and ammunition. The medium weight class might hold 1 LRM15 or less, and for the space it takes, current poor flight path algorithm and relatively low damage, the tonnage could be better put to use with ballistics, energy or SRM-based missiles.
(Even the upcoming middleweight 'Trebuchet' carries a lot of LRMs, but lacks the amount of ammo it has in doing so; the tonnage just is too restrictive at that level, IMO)

For me the 4SP is all about the in your face damage, I like to run it with 2 SRM6 (artemis) and 2 Large Lasers...
I use the 4J for my LRMs, I can put 2 artemis LRM15's on it, with endo, DHS and XL and like 3-4 medium lasers... it worke pretty well provided I have a desce3nt scout, I can get 3-4 kills a game.

The 4SP will only mount energy and missile class systems. Give LRMs a try and see how you do.

If you are deadset on using LRMs in it, I would say it is better than the variant that comes stock with LRMs, simply because your whole payload is not in one shoulder.

I ran a 3 ML/2 LRM-15 4 SP (and also a 2 LRM-10 w/ Artemis version with 3 mpl) and it runs fairly well. LRM dmg was reduced to 1.7 from 2.0 (15%) during the las tpatch.
At that level, 2 LRM 15's is not nearly as good as it was a month ago. I would not recommend it currently.
But the damage is going to get a bump soon to 1.8, and THAT might take it off the shelf as a viable option. We shall see.
note: If you can run with a scout using TAg, the 2xLRM15 verison will deliver a TON more damage, and is VERY viable.
note 2: The best loadout I found was 5xmpl (2 in each arm, 1 in the head), with a ton of double heat sinks. It is a GREAT escort mech.

or mount the TAG yourself and use the LRM more as a direct fire weapon. The trick here is keeping your self at >180M range so the LRM are usable.
