I wish they kept it as a manual unjam.

Well, manual jams just leads to macros to unjam them.

Having auto unjams are not punishing enough for constantly doubling tapping unless they are significant in length of time.

I propose a slightly diffrent modification to the unjamming to make a macro not work.

1) Weapon fires and then looks to see if the unjammed key is pressed. If unjam was started on weapom that was NOT jam. Wait 2 seconds then proceed to next step, can set what ever time limit you want on to this stage. Also can add a timer in front before looking to see if the unjam button was pressed.

2) System 'rolls' for chance to jam. If weapon james then enter weapon in to jam state.

3) Run cool down timer.

4) Is weapon in jame state? If yes, then wait for unjam button to be pressed. If no, weapon may fire.

5) When unjammed button is pressed for jammed weapon, start unjam timer.

Now... make your macro, your goign to slow down your weapon fire. This allows people that are paying attention to get their weapon on line faster then people with the macro.

It also allows the cool down and unjam timers to be adjusted as needed.

how about no
I completely disagree, that is way too long a timeframe, I could unjam manually in less time

Also, you can no longer manually unjam them anymore. And the manual unjam of before really did not set a specific unjam time (some individuals took 10s to unjam while others could do them almost instantly).

I agree. jam cycle should be 8 seconds though, seems a bit short right now.

To defeat the Macro just make it a random (Unused) button. Make that button known in the "WEAPON JAMMED" message. Once the button is pushed the timer starts.

Make unjamming the weapon use up 5 rounds of ammo (imagine the auto-feeder cutting a damaged section out of the feed-chain and ejecting it).

This would also explain why this is a.) something a pilot has to start (you don't want your autofeeder throwing ammo out without orders) and b.) something that takes a few seconds.

That way, if you jam often, you chew through your ammo fast. If you only double-fire when you need to, you'll jam less, and shoot more.

Personally, since MWO aims to be a "mech sim", I'd like it if the pilot had to physically get out of the mech, manually remove the jammed round from the UAC, and then get back in. This should be accompanied by a world-weary groan sound effect, or maybe some cursing and a good ol' "percussive maintance" thump?

</light hearted troll>

In all seriousness, one way around the macro business would just be to allow you to still try and fire whilst a jammed round was still stuck; with a low chance this would clear the jammed round, and a high chance you blow the gun to smithereens. You'd still need to have an unjam button with a 3-5s time to execute which ejects the jammed shell like others suggested - but no-one would macro it before fire (too long a delay, every other shell wasted) or after (good chance that firing would blow your arm off...).

It'd make people think twice, stop macro-ing, and still give a dying mech the option of a last gasp attempt to shoot.

Manual Unjam isn't viable - macros will just be used. The better solution is to make the jam take longer (5-7 seconds) so that it functions as a realistic DPS decrease. Either way it's better than the hard jam + weapon group screwing aroundness to unjam.

Completely agree. Any manual unjam will be macro prone. I suggest having the jam last a random amount of time anywhere from 3-15 seconds, giving you the "fickle" nature of the UAC5 and making the AC10 the rugged workhorse in comparison.

Easily dealt with. Have the unjam delay occur whenever the button is pressed, whether the wepon is jammed or not. And make the delay longer than single fire cool down. Problem solved.

*sigh* Here's a simple solution - make the unjam a button you have to press...

"BUT I CAN JUST MACRO IT TO UNJAM AFTER EVERY SHOT MWAHAHAHA"

I'm not DONE yet, sit down!....

BUT, make it so when you unjam, it consumes a round to do so (to simulate it ejecting the jammed round) and takes the full unjam time until it's ready to fire again.

Bam, now if you macro it to unjam after every shot, you are doubling your ammo consumption AND cutting your DPS.

Problem solved!

THIS is perfection! ;) I like it a lot. Alas no one listens to me...

Furthermore I think collisions must be back in the game.

Actually thats a good idea, but if your press the unjam button and both your weapons arent jammed, it could make all your weapons cease fire while it goes though an unjam cycle...so simply doing that will intterupt your firing...but ONLY do this if your press unjam and ALL your uac weapons arent jammed at the moment....So if only one cannon jams, and you press the unjam, your other weapon still fires....Press unjam and NONE of your uac weapons are jammed, they will stop fireing, and they go though the unjam process anyway, leaving you vulerable and regretting you set that unjam macro with your firing macro...
