No matter how much we shout, no matter how much grief we raise in these forums... Guess what?

The money guys DO NOT CARE! Remember, we have PGI and we have IGP. I honestly believe PGI wants to make MWO a good game. I can tell this by the tiny details I discover playing it and how the mech combat itself is so fluid and feels so good.

But, the PGI guys make the game... the IGP guys want the money. They want the PGI guys to make them the money. So--they twist arms.

So while we, the community, get pissed off and irate about PGI doing this or that which is going to screw us over...

IGP DOES NOT CARE. They want our MONEY.

So, the only way to hurt them is to take the money away--the problem is... if we take the money away, PGI goes away and so does MWO.

Remember 3025? I do. That game was great! It never made it out of beta, either. It tragically was thrown away before it really got to shine and many of us in the Mechwarrior community mourn it to this day.

I don't want MWO to go away. I also don't want golden ammo etc. either. SO what to do?

Maybe instead of shouting to IGP that it isn't fair/wrong/etc. (they don't care, they just want our MONEY, remember?) we should unite as a community and forge a way to solve this dilemma in some other way that hits IGP in the face.

They will care when there is an exodus.

The only solution I see is to stop giving them money, hopefully they'll abandon this garbage before they go belly up.

No just the idea being floated.

Instead of grabbing the hero Cicada and a few mechbays and a couple camo patterns and paints (whatever I could work in for $50) I have an empty mechbay and converted from mechwarrior to forum warrior.

....and if it goes live I un-install.

Right now they can get my business back that changes the moment MC only consumables go live.

I can play Eve for free as well, and I have about 4 more years history there.

Actually, the best way to do harm over time is probably to keep playing but stop paying. This is because you will keep adding a tiny amount of stress to their servers (costing them a smidgen of money).

You think people want to make a game for you for free when they have a family and multiple children to feed clothe and send to school? I don't know what country you live in. The United States or the fake entitlement nation some people want you to think we live in. But this is a world run on capitalism youngin'. Nothing is free. Not even your water!

Now this all could have changed over a year ago with the occupy movement. But the entitlement generation got bored and moved on to waiting in line to replace a phone they got last month. Sad they got distracted really. We could have moved on towards the federation of planets. Now we are moving towards the Borg.

Everyone wants money. Everyone needs money. It is in this way that we are all alike.

What makes people different is how they choose to go about attaining that money.

Doing harm isn't actually my intent.

Otherwise I'd be screaming all over twitter, facebook, various gaming forums, and the 5-6 other games where I have a community of like minded players that in many cases I have been gaming with for decades.

They are in the business to make money. PGI has said time and time again that they are working very hard yet most of us throw that back in their face. What happened yesterday was ridiculous. It was childish. That is not how we should have responded to something as little as a Coolant Flush. Its sad and frankly PGI or IGP won't kill this game. The community will.

Doubtful. They already took half the 5 million from the Founders program and used it in Mechwarrior: Tactics (Sorry conspiracy mongers, contrary to allegations, Paul and Garth did no tuse the money fo ra romantic tropical getaway). They aren't using any of their money to keep PGI going, they are using OURS. Hence, a mass exodus just will mean that IGP pulls out, lets PGI die, and keep whatever meager loot they alread got from it. And we end up going without a decent Mechwarrior game again.

The fact that they even proposed this idea is making me feel uneasy and I'll keep my wallet closed for a while. Yes they need money just like any business, but there are plenty of F2P examples out there that are successful while avoiding any hint of P2W such as LoL, Dota2, TF2, etc. Anything that can be bought with real money that affects gameplay outside of cosmetics or conveniences should be available with ingame money. A person grinding away should be just as competitive as a person paying real money.

Pretty much the way I feel, Ill keep playing for a while, but if pay2win happens (and thats definitley what they are planning) then I'm not going to spend one red cent.

I have no problem with consumables, or paying for consumables, and the prices thus far dont seem unreasonable to me, but all the consumables need to be available to everyone. This is not rocket science.

Well then, the sooner we pull out, the less money IGP walks away with. Sorry PGI, I do like you guys and your position royally sucks. However, I'm not going to continue to spend money on a broken product just because I like the people that make it.

“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”. -- Abe Lincoln adapting poet John Lydgate

Now that's out of the way, where's the evidence of twisting arms? And where's the evidence they aren't listening? I see PGI and IGP people all over these forums telling us they're reading and, you know, responding on a daily basis.

Maybe you don't like those reponses, maybe you disagree with them. That's fine, but don't pretend they're ignoring us, because they aren't.
