It seems ComStar and all derivatives are going to be in the hands of the development team. ;)

Comstar was not an 'active' combatant in the succession wars or skirmishes. They effectively acted as umpires (making sure people followed the Ares convention) or neutral observers. Their direct intervention was usually only felt when they decided to conduct a comms blackout because one of the successor houses 'had broken the rules' (such as House Davion's invasion of the Capellen Confederation).

This means that:

1. Comstar would be a very boring faction to play because they don't actually fight anyone.

2. Comstar make the perfect 'Dev/Moderator/Game Master Faction'.

Comstar doesn't get actively involved in combat until the Battle of Tukayyid in 3052. The Word of Blake isn't the same thing as Comstar, it's a splinter group. That doesn't get going until Precentor Marshal Focht kills Primus Waterly after the Battle of Tukayyid. That's about 3 years from now.

So much like those waiting for the clans, I don't think you'll be playing Comstar or WoB anytime soon and it really wouldn't make sense if you could. I say that as a Comstar fan too ^^
