Well, i would at least tell them to keep an eye out for it. Recomment to play it atm is a clear no.

In its current state, no, I would not. I'd tell them that I'd keep them updated if they fixed some of the major issues and added tutorials so it would be easier for them to get into and enjoy.

Yes i have, and yes i will.
as far as betas go this one is being done very well imo. you say the community is bashing any critics with "Its Beta", and i have 2 thoughts on this comment. 1) any "bashing" of critics that i have seen is on posts where there is no constructive criticism or feed back. 2) it is beta, and as i stated above, as far as a beta goes this one is being done very well imo. I have participated in a lot of betas in the past and some have been a lot worse then this. the problems we face as beta testers in this game should be expected. them making changes that break the game should be expected. them pushing back content because in house testing i says it needs more work should be expected. I have said it before on these forums and i will say it again, test the game, report bugs, and give positive forum criticism and comments on the state of the game, its your job as a beta tester to do these things.

absolutely not. They would get bored and never touch the game after a week. I will not recommend this to anyone until community warfare (assuming it doesn't suck)

I have asked them to give it a try in a couple of months or so. They would leave the game (or atleast take a break) in it's current state.

Yes, for those friends that enjoy pvp I would certainly recommend this game to them.

In fact, dozens of my online friends from Star Trek Online are now here, instead of suffering the catastrophic failure is STO.

No way would i recomend this train wrek.
The community leaders bash new players and anyone bringing up issues with the game. The mods lets this happen! Already this game has a bad rep for the forums and the community.

Open beta should for the most part be stress tests to see if the servers can handel the traffic. In no way they should be fixing the playability of the software and mechanics this late in testing. Open beta should be used for minor tweeking of the game just to get it right before release!

The excuse thats its beta is over...open beta means almost anyone can play...that means the comon gamer will come in this game and say WTH! Its not finshed. Its too little too late. The trolls in the forums will put a nail in the coffin. It looks grimm!

Not yet, in it's current stage there are still too many bugs and balance issues to make a recomendation. Hopefully these problems will get fixed and if/when they do I'll tell everyone I know to join in.

I wouldn't recommend the game either. It definitely has potential. I have been addicted to it for the past couple weeks and even sank about $37 into mech cash because it felt like a game with staying power. I really regret that today.

Since the snow forest colony map was released, the original forest colony map has had a memory leak that brings my computer to its knees. The game was never what I'd call "smooth" on my machine, even with lowest graphic settings but the forest colony map was a joke. Anywhere from a max of 10 fps to around 0.25 fps. Once any kind of fight started, it would slow to a nightmarish crawl. When you throw in the massive cockpit shake from ACs or rockets, once I started taking damage it was basically a chaotic laggy fit until I finally exploded and could be spared the agony of having to watch death by lag.

I had unrealistic expectations and hoped today's patch would fix that memory leak. Instead it created memory leaks in every other map. So I guess the bug was that I didn't have a memory leak in those maps yet.

The overheat bug persists unaddressed. The lousy grind with trial mechs because the repair bills for upgraded mechs is so high it's impossible to make money with them. This leads to players who just run into the fray or suicide, leaving their team down a man for no good gain. That that is the most logical strategy to build c-bills to buy a mech literally destroys the game. The bizarre attempt to balance premades by limiting group sizes to four. The constant crashes.

when i got into closed beta, i told everyone i knew about it... but then once the first announcement of open beta came out i stopped bragging about MWO. i knew this game wasn't going to appeal to my friends anymore, the amount of grinding to get any fun out of this game was too high, especially with the limited maps and only 1 mode and the game was/is infested with bugs.

maybe in a year when the bugs are ironed out and MWO has a system with plenty of options to choose from with decent grind times, i'll tell my friends to try it, until then when they ask about it, i say "its not worth it, i only play it because i played alot of MW2 and have a good amount of free time, theres no reason you'd choose to play it over the games you enjoy right now (league of legends)."

The Space Pope would recommend the game to a friend(especially if they were a mechwarrior fan), but he would also point out that it is nowhere near a ready state.

Well put together on how my experience was for this game. It rings tru on all points and also there are a lot of minor issues causing people to eventually jump ship. Of course the beta shouters will come, but that seems it is the primary excuse. What really bothers me is the DEVS and forum leaders do not really interact in the forums at all. Only in their little corner. They never really calm the waters around here to give at least a little insight. They dont need to write a thesis but just some little "steady the course" because this and this is happining. Some reassuring in the general threads would be comforting around here.
So i go back To GW2 , Battlefield2 (i know its dieing..but still its a great game) and Space Pirates(lol its free and fun for small time frames)

No
The game just is not up to par so far with other games.

If they were a table top geek then maybe.

Totally would/have. It's a solid start to what could become a super fun game when the factions/clans and the map come into play. Love it.

I've tried to get a few people into it, although it had more to do with my fear that the game is going to die out rather than satisfaction with the current state.

Not in its current state, no, unless I specifically knew they were a battletech fan and had played the previous mechwarrior games. The new player experience is just *that* bad right now. I wouldn't want to introduce anyone to it because I would be willing to bet good money that they wouldn't stick around more than a couple days, and because I can't honestly say to them at this point that the game seems to be improving at any reasonable rate. What's here is certainly quite fun for the battletech vets, but I wouldn't try to bring anyone else into it.

Yes.
Even with all its faults its still a great game and I enjoy playing it immensley, and more so once they re add proper 8 man groups and collisions.

Yeah. We are playing Mechwarrior Online, not World of Tanks 2 with 4 players per team. Don't want that crap here. If we want to play World of Tanks, we will.
