its been almost a month and whenever i am in a brawl i cannot see a thing except black murkiness . especially on forest colony .

this whole darkening and additional smoke to blind you is way over the top.

please address this soon rather than later .

Agreed. Lots of people say it happens on Forest Colony only, but I've had it happen on River City too.

Why does the screen dim to nothing?

Is this still the Catapult "dying sun" issue?

I've only had it go TOTAL black in forest colony (original version), but I certainly hope they fix it soon. I think it's an issue of lightsource on that map, why it affects it the most and why nightvision is so poor for it as well.

This is a "feature" of CryEngine's HDR/bloom mechanic. It's trying to make "bright" brighter and "not bright" darker to emphasize the contrast. It's not something PGI created themselves, but it is far more extreme than it should be.

It used to be even worse; when they dropped the CryEngine 3.4 update, all the 'Mech glow effects intensity got like quadrupled or something, which of course made the HDR/bloom even worse. The glow has been decreased back to proper levels by now, but the HDR/bloom issue still shows up some.

It's pretty much anything up close and really bight. Atlas torso, missle volleys, sustained AC fire, whatever causes sustained or flashing bright source basically darkens the entire rest of the screen. Forest Colony is the worst offender.

I only seem to be really affected by this when I am getting pounded by 3+ mechs on Forest Colony. Usually a lost cause at that point since I am not leading the charge, but it makes any last minute reversals a lot harder when I can barely see the target 20m in front of me.

Does it also happen a lot on Forest Colony Snow? I do not recall noticing it there, but I do tend to let those two merge together frequently.

Agreed. Please lower the effect of the dim.
It makes aiming very hard and is a bonus to mechs with SSRMs on top of the 100% hit chance.

I usually only get this when LRM's are fired near me. Its the smoke trail or effect from that that causes it the most for me, at least on forest colony.

Usually them hitting me doesn't do it at all, but someone firing lrms right next to my cockpit will cause it pretty much 100% of the time.

I'm sure there are other factors as well, but it seems forest colony is the worst offender of it for some reason.

forest snow is whole lot brighter so while it does happen there its detriment to your visions is not as severe, however in the right conditions it can still be disrupting.

Darkness in one thing, but complete, pitch black makes it impossible to do anything but Pray 'n Spray.

Forest Colony is the problem area.

what is really annoying is that devs were supposed to have fixed this. i guess they thought removing super glow was the fix.

however were still left with super dark .

Yeah it seems to be forest colony. I mean when a heavy fight happens in the middle of the map, my screen gets really dark and I can't see anything..

And not only is it pitch black, it is for en extended period of time. When my screen goes black I might as well just give up. It's about as bad as shutting down in a fight.

Heh, i still would prefer the visibility even if its distorted from knock around.

For there has been to many times when it so black i cant tell which way im going any more .

and when the smoke cleared for a brief instance (probably cause the enemy thought i lagged out) i found i was walking into a wall..
