Ability to join/create a lobby and launch with 16, with the ability to choose teams and have an overall team mech tonnage allotment, such as 500 or 600 tons, a setting that can be switched by the lobby leader. Map can be chosen, and game mode, as well as ability to password protect lobby, and kick out users that are not following rules such as tonnage. This will make more evenly matched play, and this way people can play with and vs who they want without the randomization, or possibly even launch with less than 16, such as a 1 vs 1 battle, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3, and so on.

Thank you MWO.

This is an idea that I have been pushing for some time. It is truly neccessary to allow for proper pre-game strategizing. You should turn this into a poll.

I would love to see this in the game. It would eliminate a lot of the problems that exist in the matchmaking.

For being a game centered around "team play", it is amazing how little effort has been put forth to provide features that enhance "team" preparation and coordination. In fact, many times the opposite has has occurred as the Dev's appear to hold the interests of the individual PUG player above the interest of the core Mechwarrior fans and their units/clans/guilds (many of whom supported this game through the Founders Program). This is old news though as countless threads calling for custom matchmaking and lobbies have been closed down by the forum moderators.

While the game play of Mechwarrior Online is enjoyable, the game experience, as a whole, is pretty shallow. Again, this is old news.

That they don't have such a lobby/custom matchmaking already suggests something very important for all us players:

PGI doesn't like us running in teams. (note: when they did bring back 8 mans, after ignoring us screaming for bringing back teams - and you know - SOCIAL interaction, they imbalanced 8 man teams so much that most of us are back to the four man drops just to find sanity)

There are friend caps. I can't add any more friends to my friends list.

There is no way to talk to your opponents before or after matches. God forbid new players can easily find groups, or veterans arrange house rules before games (like, hey, let's not cap, let's fight it out, or: let us get a couple screenshots of our unit before we duke it out!)

I don't think PGI really tests teams in-house either, which would explain why: they ignored drop weight with the latest matchmaking and they didn't figure out that ECM would change the game so much as to make render long/mid range fighting minimal, and kill the medium mech.
