I solved this issue with a mixtures of existing ideas out of this forum:
1. Checking up that my drivers and Dirext X are up to date
2. Taking care that the gameclient is running on window mode
3. Boosting my Nvidia 9600GT with MSI Afterburner
4. Deactivating AERO on WIN7 before running the client
5. Cleaning up the shaderfolder in the game directory (repeating this before starting the client again)
6. Using Colonel Pada Vinson's low cfg file LINK (tyvm for that)
Result: A significant growth of fps during combats. Still not back to normal, but playable again..

We just ordered 900$ in parts for her new computer, hopefully it will stand up to MWO in the next week or so.
+1 op, good find!

apparently performance hits with patches will continue until forum morale improves. or something.
user cfg or resolution drops are the only way to redeem things presently to any serious degree.

1) This game uses Cryengine3. History: Crysis aka "the PC killer". Think that sums it up.
2) Any of you using PC components from 4+ years ago..dont "expect" 30fps+ ..be happy if you do ..but thinking you 'should' get it is laughable at best. (4years is the usualy the end limit for gaming hardware)
The only slight slowdown iv noticed since last patch is from the increased usuage of AC's and SSRM's and thus more explosions and stuff in combat. Otherwise its all good.
Max settings/1920x1080
Average Lowest FPS over a session: 50
Average Lowest FPS during combat: 35
Spec:
Intel 3930k 4.6ghz OC
Gigabyte 560ti S-OC (85% - 99% usuage)

I think everyone gets it... better hardware, means better gaming... yes we know.
But when a computer can run Crysis2, BF3, and a host of other current games on medium settings and get 30-40 fps and then when the same said computer runs MWO it gets 10-15 it leads me to believe there are issues other than just having Ferarri hardware

SOME THINGS YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND.
crysis 2 also uses the cryengine 3. March 22, 2011 was the crysis 2 release date.
reference for my machine for example specifically indicates 31.2 fps on ultra at 1920x1080 from reviews including it as a benchmark. my particular unit has a couple upgrades to ram(12gb from 8) and disk drives(2 7200rpm drives from one 5400rpm) , but nothing to cause a massive improvement.
machine is from last year around october.
nevertheless, can no longer consistently get 30fps anymore with this title, even dropping to below "low" using user.cfg, and dropping resolution to 1366x768. going from 40-90fps at low with 1920x1080 and crawling over time down to this point is frankly, insane. worse knowing that at high with those setting previous i could see the same peak fps but suffered occasional unacceptable dips during big big brawls(ie 90+ though 10 fps instead) it feels even more malfing insane.
performance continues to degrade on just about a per patch basis.
further observing associates complain of EXACTLY THE SAME THING on machines better than yours on the cpu side and gpu side, with two 600+ series cards depending on the individual in question, they aren't far off from the toilet either, performance wise, and every last one of us is becoming fairly perturbed by it.
lastly, and to truly drive the malfing point home,
MechWarrior Online Minimum System Spec
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66 GHz -- AMD Athlon II X2 245e
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8800GT -- AMD Radeon HD 5600/5700
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows Vista 32-bit
DirectX: DX9
HDD Space: 4 GB
MechWarrior Online Recommended System Spec:
CPU: Intel Core i3-2500 -- AMD Athlon II X4 650
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 -- AMD Radeon HD 5830
RAM: 8 GB
OS: Windows 7 SP-1 64-Bit
DirectX: DX9
HDD Space: 4 GB
or russ's statements in the july tomshardware interview
"Right now, a duo Core system is our minimum spec machine, but it is also our main focus of concern," he said. "It is playable on those specifications and I have tested it myself, but it is currently very much a minimum spec type of experience running on low-detail settings. It’s obvious that a Quad Core system is the key as even the earliest Core 2 Quad systems run the game very well and it is our goal (since there are still so many out there), to optimize the Core 2 Duo systems to run much faster."
so a GTX460 with a 2nd gen core i7 experiencing issues that did not exist before, and further being unable to match crysis 2 fps anymore using low setting here and high/ultra with crysis2.
or an associates third gen core i7 with two gtx680's barely beating me out on fps.. or..
you get the point? thanks for playing.

A as a side note it is good to hear that some ladies are keen pilots to, currently trying to wean my wife off another MMOG to join MWOline.

Only down side is I can't blame my lack of skill on the crappy performance :-D

the issue is known, PGI is aware, it's up to them to fix it now... when will that be? i don't know
but from now on it's out of my control so my solution is just to not hit F9... i don't want to have my ****** fps quantified in red numbers at the upper left of the screen... so for now it's just play on and power through it or otherwise just drop the game until it's sorted out, but apparently i can take alot of bs before just kicking it straight to the curb.

Ati Radeon user here, Afterburner is still a viable option.

I am running MSI afterburner - what is the suggestion in Afterburner? To OC the card?
Trying the reinstall now just to see if it will increase FPS a bit,
The user definable fan control is also handy to flip on. MWO runs very hot in the staging mech lab social areas when the window has focus. A cooler card is smoother running.

AMD 6 core, 3.3 Ghz.
Gigabyte Mobo
Nvidia GTX 660Ti
16 gig Ram
90 gig SSD
2 HDD's.
42" monitor
7 home premium
I get problems too. Swapping up the 560Ti to the 660Ti seemed to help considerably, however.

How do you even think of putting this on Cryengine3? When people complain about a FPS drop from one patch to the next?
They don't complain about low FPS in general. Here are people that notice a significant drop in FPS after a patch. So Yesterday 40FPS ---- PATCH ----- TODAY 10 FPS. THATS NOT CRYENGINE THATS THE PATCH.
But whats funny to me is that I have arround 10 FPS in dogfights when playing on my own. Watching the same kind of Mech fighting a dogfight in Spectator gives me sometime up to 15 FPS more. So its not necessarily graphic related.

This is my exact build, except I have 12gigs RAM. Current gamestate is absolutely unplayable. 12 fps average. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, messed with configs, etc. etc.
For now I am waiting to see if anything gets better for the minimum spec systems, I am building a new comp in a month or so, but I would love to play this game before the new year.
