this is all good to know. thanks
So Pretty Much Nobody Knows More Weapons Fired At The Same Time = More Total Heat Generated.

This isn't exactly hard to test....and if you do test it you'll find there is no added heat.

Strangely enough, I made a chart showing exactly why this is a myth and a false cause earlier today.
If you volley fire, your heat will spike higher than chain fire does for a second or two, but cools off enough to be at the exact same heat as chain firing when that reaches it's maximum heat.
The main difference is that volley fire frontloads the heat and damage, while chain fire spreads the heat and damage out over time. Volley fire tends to put more damage in the same spot, but is riskier to take to high heat where you might shutdown.

Thank you for this. Maybe some of the people spreading this rumor will shut up now.

Afaik the mechanic the devs discussed has not been put in yet.
It was also I think a flat % increase to heat generated from identical weapons stacked in 1 location.
So if you put 2 ML in your right arm slots, and fire them at the same time, more heat is generated than if you had put 1 ML in the right arm and 1 in the left arm and fired those at the same time,
Basically I think the idea was to make people take different lasers instead of stacking the same type in every free slot etc.
So it would be somewhat forcing you to put LL or MPL or SL in either arm as well, instead of 4 ML if you get me.......

Trust me. It's because of the split second delays in the chain fire setup. I've run a 4LL Hunchie pretty extensively, and I know precisely where I can can alpha strike and still stay just an a$$hair under the shutdown point.
The heat penalty for weapon stacking was briefly mentioned as an option but never implimented. In fact, the Devs stopped talking about it all about a month or so before open beta.
There is no heat penalty for stacking multiples of the same weapon.
