Rock: Light mechs, fast mediums
Scissors: LRM Boats
LRM's punish super short range weapon systems, and slow lumbering mechs. Gauss is on there because Missile hits can disrupt shots and cause the pilot to re position.
Light Mechs counter this by being able to sprint into the back Line and harass the LRM Carrier's.
Streak Cats Kill Lights, Slow Lumbering Assaults can kill most heavies, fast mediums, and Lights assuming they invest in some short range weapons.

If everything is equal its not mechwarrior anymore.
And it doesn't mean there are no roles like you describe, it just means they shouldn't start to balance mechs regardless of tons.

You sir are a genius.
Now seriously can we get more then just a "no" why do you say "no"?
I simply brought up a interesting way to look at the current balancing trends. Think outside the box

*only applies in cases of skill

Nope.
Lights don't have problem killing assaults. I'm not sure what strange game you've been playing where assaults are the premier light killers...
LRM boats aren't really all that great against assaults, even if they are slow, and certainly aren't very good against guasspults...
You either have only a rudimentary understanding of the game or are trying to shoehorn in an analogy that simply doesn't exist.

This is flat out wrong, otherwise we would stop hearing whining about lights and mediums and everyone would drive and atlas and no one would play AtlasWarrior any more.
More tons only means more armor, more weapons, less speed.
look at it like this:
Heaviest mechs: Armor(Ar) =3 Weapons(Wep) =3 Speed(Sp) =1
Middle weight: Ar =2, Wep =2, Sp = 2
Lightest weight: Ar =1, Wep =1, Sp =3
It's called asymetrical balance when things aren't equal but are equally competitive and it is a very good thing. The worst possible sin a designer can commit when creating multiplayer game elements is making something that trumps all other choices. If everyone has to use something to compete then it is inherently bad for the game and needs to be removed or balanced.

Wow.... ok lets look at this rude statement berating my knowledge of the game..... Been here since closed beta before the founders invite. FYI
What i ment is that Assaults like say a Awesome or Atlas who has the same skill as a light mech pilot, can kill the light mech pilot pretty easily if he can hit him with all his weapons. thus killing the light mech very quickly, NOW having said that if the light pilot is a better pilot then the Assault you have a point.
As for LRM's thats sort of my point LRM Damage should be increased to make those slow short range mechs pay for using those types of weapons.
Another analogy: If the streakcat is a knife fighter and the LRM Carrier is a long range sniper. Who should win?

Sir your idea for thinking out of the box is wrong. We need to shove this back into the box of being a mechwarrior game. Not a 3 year olds game of rock, paper, scissors.
Is that the more intelligent answer you wanted. I said no the first time due to the fact that this requires no more discussion then that.
