Last night, Windows 8 prompted that I had to restart within the next 15 minutes for some security updates (I guess they were pretty urgent since there was no delay option).

After restarting, I decided to get a quick game in before starting on some work. The patcher started up and started to download the next patch. I went my way reading the patch notes (I'm so glad the UA/C 5 is back to normal) and then noticed the patcher was gone. I opened it up again, and it goes strait to preparing for the install then dies. No error, no nothing. I tried making a DEP exception and running as administrator. Still didn't work. After an uninstall and re download it works perfectly.

My guess is that the Microsoft patch is the real culprit and that some file permissions were changed, but I am curious if anyone else had this problem.

MS Security essentials constantly asks to send launcher.exe for inspection.
I think, this can be fixed by just codesigning the launcher.

Technically, you can like do it yourself, if interested - I will explain how
