Atlas As7-rs
Speed 56.7
Tons 100
Firepower 43
Heat Efficiency 1.32
Armor 608
Upgrades DHS+Endo
Weapons
2x large laser
2x medium laser
1x Gauss rifle 4 tons ammo
Standard 350 engine
this is a very durable tough atlas with a ton of fire power its quick for a atlas an can suprise medium mechs with its turn speed also allows to maintain fire with moving in via the gauss given the skill lasers cut down lights. Also with the heat efficacy you can maintain fire for long periods of time.

I prefer to have an XL 300 engine and 2 medium pulse, with regular heat sinks gets you much better heat efficiency. I actually get 1.61 heat efficiency as well as 45 firepower with an equal speed. I took out a LOT of armor from the legs, and I still haven't been legged once yet.

Replace 2 large and 2 medium with 4 large, replace 4 tons of gauss ammo with 3 and replace 350 engine with 300. Then slap the rest of it full of double heatsinks and chainfire large lasers. Oh yeah, remove endo steel. There you go. You're a large laser beam on enemy target 24/7.
That Atlas will leave lights yawning and mediums are used to weapons loadouts like that.

Chain fire wouldn't make those large lasers any more heat efficient. IMO it's best to fire them all at once anyways, for the head shot potential, and so you can torso-twist to spread damage more effectively.

Definitely need 4 LLs on that thing. I agree with group fire too. Engine choice is a matter of preference, but I really like running a 350XL in mine, 61kph with elite. Definitely less forgiving on errors with that XL, but an Atlas at 60+kph is like a whole new machine, it's pretty fun.
Even with that XL I've gotten 8 kill matches and get into some brutal brawls. A smart swayback can drop me fast though.

I prefer firing them in chain. First of all it does do a difference in heat efficiency because your DPS is lower and the heat generation is more constant rather than bursty, and secondly you'll constantly have a beam on enemy target, so there will never be a situation where the enemy is in perfect position to take hits but you just fired and now all your lasers are on CD.
Less kill stealing too, if you actually care about that. Or more kill stealing by you if you want to put it that way.
