So, I've been thinking about how the 'Community Warfare' concept is going to be implemented. Since we have almost no information, I'm going to assume a lot of stuff. As a disclaimer, I've played in Planetary Leagues in MW4 and loved it. So I'm hoping that Community Warfare brings back that sort of feeling to the game.

In UTS/NBT... groups of people controlled planets. This planet created resources ('Mechs, dropships, etc). In MWO, it would be very interesting to have planets generate a small amount of c-Bills or even MC per day/week. This makes possession of a planet worth something.

In MW4 leagues... to gain or lose a planet, you went through a 'Planetary Assault' or PA. During a PA, there were a large number of fights that were done to 'simulate' the entire conflict. There were initial landing (sometimes dropships got shot down), scouting from the dropship landing sites, initial invasion and seizure of resources, city assaults, and then the 'final showdown'.

I want that back for MWO.

One of the biggest 'fun' aspects of this is that your performance in each phase affected the difficulty of subsequent phases. Specifically, the 'difficulty' of a phase was set by unbalancing the 'allowed tonnage' on each side. An 'even' battle was even tonnage. Thus, the winner was determined by skill. However, there may be situations where the attacker or defender was put at an intentional disadvantage by being either under-tonned or over-tonned. Add to the fact that you might only be able to bring 2-3 dropships worth of 'Mechs makes this a huge metagame choice about what 'Mechs not only about what was 'best' but what is available.

You could also 'raid' a planet to do economic/'Mech inventory damage or steal resources (MC? =). Having a 'raid system' implemented that would allow small groups of players to be hired to 'weaken' a planet before a PA would add a lot to the Community Warfare aspects.

I'd love to hear what other people are hoping to see for the Community Warfare implementation.
