Whats in a name. I stewed over the readily apparent grumbling for a bit tonight and now find that I cannot sleep.

Bryan.. it's not you its us.

With this development, this game, we are joining the latest evolution of the grand arena, and most important, the story. We are to be the parallel stories of the inner sphere, and eventually clans, the unwritten plays and events that occur on hosts of worlds that will develop into the tales told around nerd gaming tables, chat rooms, and forums for decades to come.

What the devs have said is that we cannot cling to the teats of other units that have had their stories told over and over again. Who really would want to? If you can stand with a candle in the dark you are a light, small perhaps but visible, useful, and bright from a distance. A candle flame under the glare of the sun is invisible.

To follow a path so worn leads you always where other have been, and none will notice your footprints as they travel along with you ladies and gentlemen. My belief is that the fan base herein is made of sterner stuff, grasping to be remembered, like Bedford, and Exeter,Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester, like Henry, G. Patton, Bradley, Nimitz. People of such will, are remembered for moving mountains on their own, under their own banner, for their own country and fellows.

In my best, Say I, Get thee on with making moniker, seal, and sigil
Create for thyself a kingdom of brothers,
true and good to the name you place upon it
and lay low all those before you who would do it harm
cry they, thy name, in bloody rasp
weeping for their fear of uttering it.

Bryan, we love you back.

I cannot imagine Adridos that if people really consider for a moment that making a name for themselves far and away from the shadows of the canon units that any of them would turn down the chance to stand out, as units and individuals.

And I have said as much on our private 1RR boards as well.

I find that i agree...Lets make our own "canon"...let's be brave enough to step out and create "history" instead of just being a footnote...

All I know is I will build my own legacy and it may take me time... But time is all we have and I plan on making the best of my time. My name my not be well known now but in time it will be. I will no doubt make some enemy's along the way (no real ones I hope :P but I do hope to make many friends while enjoying what we all hope to be a very exciting game for years to come. I'm sure it will be a blast to game with many of you. For my future House kurita mates, it will be an honor to fight along side you. And for any and all future enemy, it will be an honor to rise to the challenge of competing against you.

That's what I trying to build The Remnant to do. I've got a good group of warriors together, and we tried to set up as good a set of rules as we could.

While the path we cut may end up being narrow, its a path nonetheless, and one that we made for ourselves.

I really like this. I also happen to agree with the stance PGI has made and forces those to step out of the shell and be creative. I understand for some it's a matter of history or a long time association with a unit. Well there is nothing there to stop those from associating or identifying themselves or making a nod to their history of said unit.
Here's to moving foward and to the right decision.

Holy crap, that's like, poetry, man!
*sniffle*

:P But in all seriousness, Bryan, I have been very impressed by how well Piranha staff have been handling community relations, and your calm, diplomatic approach to yesterday's announcement (and the inevitable intarweb RAAAAAAAAAGE that ensued) was another sterling example. It really boosts my confidence that the finished MWO release, and ongoing content additions and support, will be worth all my anticipation.

I would like to thank you guys at Piranha Games for sharing as much information about the game as they have, and also for listening to our ideas too. I really appreciate how much time you guys put towards this community, and your attempts to stay as close to the original table top game as possible.

Thank You Very Much!

You are welcome Bryan,
Doc says take two hours in the game test room, Put yourself in the biggest baddest mech you got laying about, put Paul in the nearest thing you have to an Urbie, and pound the hell out of him for that "getting popcorn" comment he made. You will feel better in the morning.

You have said in a much more magnificent way what I have been saying since I got here. Go forth and explore new realms, create your own destiny instead of hanging on to the coattails of Wolf's Dragoons or some other Canon unit - let the creative juice flow and come up with something of your own.
