Literally 8/8 games had at least 1 AFK. This game is not at all enjoyable alone. I can deal with new players who do 30 damage and die in the first minute. The afkers are just plain exploiting and ruining games though. I honestly don't see how anybody plays this game alone, it's about as fun as punching yourself in the balls.

Thats pretty much the reason groups are so much better and more fun... you always know your teammates arent gonna exploit the game at the expense of their team.

yup totally agree. even when i drop with some mates in a group of 2-4 normally at least 1 AFKer, suicide/disconnect etc...
roll on groups of 8. fine might get stomped by better team but at least i know everyone will be there to play.

Too quick to judge, fellas. People are crashing to desktop left and right on launch... they're not AFK... they're sitting at their keyboards pissed that their mech just went into a fight without them in the pilot's seat. They're waiting for their mech to be given back to them so they can try again.

Others are encountering show stopper bugs and disconnecting. Sure... it's possible some people are gaming the system, but most of the people actually want to play, but bugs are interfering with that. So... ease up on the hate for your fellow gamers, you're rolling with too little information and not enough consideration.

Happy thanksgiving... be excellent to each other.

Last night we had a match where our side had 3 people missing, but then the other side got a disconnect and 3 suicides...they might have rolled us with sheer numbers if they'd even tried to play, but even the ones who stayed in the match barely tried to fight back. Weirdest match ever.

I've pugged a lot this morning, as usual, and most matches were pretty fun, actually - didn't get a lot of disconnects or AFKs on either friendly or opposing teams.

Yeah, no joke on this, 1-2 disconnects/afks per match, but I honestly think it's 'mostly' due to crashes, I know I get my share.

As annoying as this issue is, I'm more pissed off about people who disconnect at the last second before they die. Effectively robbing you of the kill, and with it cbills and experience points.

I would follow the above with a question such as "are people really so childish" or some such, but this is the age of the internet...

A couple of the PUG matches I had last night were amazing fun. Especially the one that ended with a Jenner pilot and me in my Cicada legging an Atlas and then proceeding to leg a Catapult... good times. Mad props to that Jenner pilot if he's out there, I didn't catch the name, sorry! That was a heck of a game!

Maybe if people went into PUG matches with a more positive attitude, that'd help. I'm keeping an open mind and I'm having a blast.

ETA: also, folks are speaking the truth with the AFK/disconnects and the bugs. Last night, my team dropped into a match where two of us got game ending glitches immediately. It can happen to anyone. Before jumping to the conclusion that the AFKs are farming, consider that.

Honestly, warts and all, I've enjoyed pugging more than premade since the last patch (though I admittedly haven't had the time to group up, so I don't know how it is playing in 4 man groups). The matches I've been in have been more balanced and more neck and neck (save for a few here and there getting pugstomped)

Last patch I would've agreed that AFKers were a huge problem. However, now the game is so unstable and crashes/acts crazy so often that it's just impossible to say.

Just played some pugging games and had great fun.

I'm trying to finish the experience tree for the Atlas so I was playing in a Gauss/ERPPC/2LL Atlas K and ended up as the last man on my team. The other team was down to just one (very skilful) player with a JJ Catapult with 2PPC (not ERPPC) and some streaks. Soon we were both put of ammo so it was my battered Atlas with an ERPPC, 2LL and not enough heat sinks vs his 2PPC in a rather knackered Catapult. I wasn't at all sure I would win a long-range fight so we spent what felt like ages with me trying to keep close enough so he couldn't use his PPCs and him using his superior speed and JJ to try and get round behind me and zap me with the PPCs. In the end the game timed out and we were both still alive and fighting. Nail-biting stuff!

Of course, the game before that all the mediums on my team ran off ahead and were massacred by the opposite side before our assaults could catch up. Ho hum.

CSA ran our public practice last night. We had 2-3 groups going all night doing sync drops.

We lost at least 1 person out of the 8-12 that dropped in EVERY match. About 90% of the time it looked like an AFK. One drop we had 3/8

Im not saying people dont afk, just that it is NOT as bad as it seems.

this is true, probably some of those people crashed so maybe its too rash to say they're intentionally abusing anything. in any case, its pretty annoying that in a game with 8v8 you can almost count on at least 1 or 2 disconnects. i hope they fix this, its just really unbalanced when you see your team has a D/C assault

I blackscreened yesterday and all I thought was "Damn now my team will think I'm AFK. I hit s (global chat) and typed in "Blackscreen sry" and hit enter. Don't know if that went through.

AFKers or Mechs simple turning in circles all the time are getting really annoying, but even with 2 of these I've had wins with a pug. Teamplay on the most basic level still wins.

I can't say I share the O/P's problem. Most pugs I run do fairly well. .at least better than 50% win ratio. . . depending on ToD.

What really ruins MY experience pugging are the random drops with people that think it's funny to shoot their own team. Unfortunately that makes it a loss for all as one then has to turn around and blow the team killer to high heck. . resulting in YOU being punished for dealing with an @$$hat.

As for premades. . . .Overwhelming single targets with sheer numbers via focus fire is *NOT* skill. I'm not bashing the tactic, I'm simply stating a fact. Anyone hurt by this . . I'm sorry for p*ssing in your cheerios.
