They havn't said, other than they do have criteria and anyone that meets the criteria gets put into a random drawing.

- Yes, we have criteria.
- Yes, you are added in batches based on those criteria.
- No, I can't tell you the criteria being used for obvious reasons.
- No, you ill never see a rejected button. Jeeez that's just mean.
- Yes, everyone is a potential beta tester.
- Selections are 100% random if you meet the criteria.
The criteria in question are from the beta application questionaire, psot count or rating has nothing to do with it.

"Meets criteria..." folk put into a pool
Invite sent.to 1000 random, then 500 random then 500 random...from that pool.
Now as to what exactly that "Meets criteria" means...your guess is as good as mine.
- Maybe they are looking for systems in a certain range
- Maybe they are taking them from the upper end to just test the servers and potentially rule out user system issues.
- Maybe they are taking them from the lower end of the spectrum
- Maybe they are removing anyone that answered the B-Tech knowledge question with "Walking Battletech wiki" because it was a "weeder" question designed to eliminate those folks who just answered the highest possible response.

Oh, and the final list must be baptised by tears of Paul laughing to misery of all not getting in.

Or may be they're only selecting those who did, lol. I answered with that because 1.) it's funny, but more importantly 2.) it's true. I memorized so many tables when playing Battletech, knew all the optional rules, and even read all of the side fiction. If you showed me a mech from 3055 or earlier I could name it on the spot. So yeah, walking wiki of Battletech knowledge, lol.

In case its not clear, the criteria is not advertised because the only reason people would want to know is to fake their PC specs, boost their forums posts or *whatever* to meet the criteria. It also leaves them open to criticism and backlash "Wah wah why am I excluded because of X".
Suffice it to say they will select people on certain hardware criteria, if they have a particular spec of machine (low and high).

As I understand it a large part of the criteria was whether or not the Dev's dated your mom with the following as a +/- % to your beta profile score.
1) Did they date her before she had kids +1 after -1
2) Did your mom make waffles or pancakes the next morning waffles +1 pancakes -1
3) One night stand or did she make them work for it ONS +1 work for it -1
I believe there are a couple other items but trust me you don't want to hear that about your mom
Cheers!

Presumably ... so that they can troubleshoot game issues and not your hardware issues. You have to have certain level (or above) CPU, GPU, RAM, bandwidth and probably display. Im sure all the questions and corresponding answers are relevant. Even if you have 100%, it doesnt mean you have the ideal PC and experience. Im sure a vast number of people had 100% and then the unknown criteria were used to create a final list and from those 1-5% were chosen randomly based on how much they wanted to load the server.
Im sure there is a "short list" of friends, contributors, and forum vets who were accepted. I have no proof of any of this but the end goal, of course, is to test the game and thats done using beta testers who meet the criteria.

Thing is, without knowing the selection criteria you are best to tell the truth. They are likley not looking for the best rigs or the most knowlegable players... they could be, but if everyone 'faked' their answers and they pick the criteria that you truthfully should have picked, then the user will miss their beta chances

I answered mine truthfully. I played almost all of the Mechwarrior and MechCommander games, but did not play MechAssault.
