As the title says I feel it would be great if the capture points provided radar coverage within and slightly beyond their borders. Not only does it make sense that the building would have radar on it but it would add a risk / deterrent to a light mech trying to capping the base before neutralizing the enemies LRMS.

Interesting point. I cap all the time. So all i can say is that it adds ALOT to the anxiousness of the gameplay, if you are in a 25 ton Commando capping not knowing if an atlas is coming back to the base:
heck he could be behind you right now... quick! go check... nope, all clear.
how about now?... nope all clear.
then you hear the slow tromp of an assault mech coming... time to run...

how about drop/fire a scanner/radar probe
that would run for a 2 minutes
or/and have multiple capture points
each giving a different benefit such as
radar weapon bonus, repair rearm bay

Something like that could work well for the conquest mode that is coming.

If your team captures a node with radar or just one that gives the following bonus, it either provides radar in a radius around it , or gives the commander the ability to drop a probe anywhere on the map for x amount of seconds that gives detection around it.

Obviously a cooldown on it also so it can't be spammed. :P

Lots of other things you could do too tbh.......

Light turns up, kills your radar dish, caps anyway.

Given the Conquest mode thought, an ECM bubble is generated, (50m-75m) on capture, so that the enemy doesn't know how many of your Mechs await their return to attempt a de-cap. :P
