I just created an account and downloaded the MechWarriorOnline Application Launcher. Right after I set the install location I get the Error 0x80070005 - Access is Denied

[14C8:02B0][2012-11-23T17:23:04]: Registering bundle dependency provider: {74d11f91-05cc-44f6-8e49-94fe7f33c79b}, version: 1.2.0.0

[14C8:02B0][2012-11-23T17:23:04]: Error 0x80070005: Failed to register bundle.

I am the only account and have full admin on Windows 7 x64.

Anyone know what is going wrong?

I have tried running the program as an administrator through right clicking the application and selecting "run as administrator" and I have set the compatibility of the program to "run as administrator" neither changed my situation.

You require FULL Administrative Access to install and run this game...
Make sure you disable your software anti-virus and firewall to install this beta game.
If you're still getting this error with the main user admin account, then your computer might be compromised to which I recommend a full reinstall of windows.

With my anti-virus and firewall turned off I still have the same error.

I also live in a complex where I do not have direct control over the router. I have had problems with any game running punkbuster since the complex doesn't allow me to open ports. Could this be the problem?

No because it's an issue with the computer your using and not the network.

My computer is clean of malware, this is the only game I have a problem with "access is denied". So if no other solutions are available other then a blanket "reinstall windows", which isn't guaranteed to work, then this game seems like it may have too many problems to deal with if the basic install doesn't even run.

Is there any info in the Application log in the Event Viewer?

Also, please try setting a different install location, preferably another drive, for testing purposes. If you don't have another drive, make a folder in the root of your drive and try installing there. (i.e. C:\MWO)

Some programs don't get along with UAC and so they won't be able to install in Program Files unless you disable it.

I tried installing it on my S and C drives same error. I have UAC turned off. The event viewer doesn't seem to be logging the error at all.

Well I guess if you're really dedicated you could run process monitor and see what it logs.

I am not really sure what to look for in the process monitor but this is the copy paste of the process tree

I took a quick look at the installer. It's WiX based and I've never dealt with that before. The XML was unformatted and painful to read, but it looks to me that the installer is failing to add MWO to the Add/Remove Programs list.

only include mechwarrioronline.exe, run it, stop the capture when it fails and save as PML and I'll take a look at it for you.

Meaning you don't have Admin access to install the game..

Is this your own personal computer(Meaning you went out and bought it from Walmart or somewhere) or is it a dorm/collage/university assigned computer?

What Anti-virus software are you using?

You can't really tell anything from what he posted. I get all sorts of errors like that in my log and it installs fine for me. I need to see what goes right alongside what goes wrong to get proper context.

...
One of my favorite things to exclude is an operation on “FAST IO DISALLOWED”. Fast IO indicators in a trace have to do with how the windows file cache works. Process Monitor provides a default filter that removes most of the Fast IO events, by doing an exclude on events that have an Operation starting with the string “FASTIO_”. This leaves “FAST IO DISALLOWED” events captured and displayed. You often see a “FAST IO DISALLOWED” entry on a file followed by the normal path attempt to open the file which succeeds. Adding a filter to exclude Operations start with “FAST IO” eliminates these red herrings.

How would I attach the PML file to this Forum?
