I have started to run my Win 7 without using the Windows Aero desktop theme. I have been running Windows Classic theme, and others in my unit have used Windows 7 Basic. So far we all have not had as many bugs or no bugs at all since switching to those themes. No black screen bug, no FPS bug, just nada and even slightly improved FPS in some cases.

I suggest just give it a go for a few hours and see if it helps or not, for some of them it didn't do much, others (and myself) its been really good.

*Results may vary*

Windows 7 disables Aero feature's unless running in a windowed or full windowed mode.

I run Windows 7 with basic theme. It does not prevent any of these bugs.

Windows classic seems to be running it better then basic. Give it a try for a little bit and see if it helps any. Aero doesn't disable on full-screen it keeps running unless you purposely disable it for that game or otherwise.

I will try this when I get home
I do have my compatibility settings set to where it disables all windows Aero features though when I launch the game, I have the feeling it is the same as what youre doing, in which case it doesnt help at all for me right now...
