Perhaps this question was already asked, I couldn't find it in the FAQ or search. I was wondering how fast time goes in the MWO. Is one year actually one year in time? How long will it take to reach a time frame where more advanced weaponry will become available for the IS?

Wow! So they plan on having many mechs incorporated over the years right? It sure would be cool if they could have them all! But that's only a dream I believe. Thanks for the quick answer Adridos :P

I am wondering if there will end up being time skips. For instance, after Tukayyid, we could jump to the 60s and Operation Bulldog. Then from there we play straight through the FedCom Civil War which leads straight to the Jihad. Still, that's almost two decades AFTER Bulldog until the final resolution of the Jihad. I am thinking the devs have this set up to play mainly in the Clan Invasion time period. I'm holding out hope that, one day, I will see the interior of the Celestial Omnimechs realized in game.

I almost even see the timeframe when the Clans are gone to elect a new ilKhan that they skip that rough year as not a lot happened, borders certainty did not really change much. Hard to say how they will handle the timeframe going 1:1.

I guess it depends upon how they see the persistent universe working, you know, a once a year revamp.

i.e. the first update is MWO 2 Clans set during the clan invasion, then MWO 3 Mercs. set during the I.S. counterstrikes, then MWO 4 set during the next major war, then the dark ages (should they chose to allow the story to go that way).

That way we could perhaps see a graphics update, newer mechs based upon the time line or perhaps experimental prototype models becoming standard and more reliable and to be replaced by newer more expensive prototypes with their own quirks which will take a few months/ years to iron out.

It could be a really good way to keep the product fresh, in much the same way that World of Warcraft managed (love it or hate it, it did).
