Then Don't buy the paint Mustrum. I see the thinking of both sides and I understand them both. PGI NEEDS to make money and we don't want to SPEND money. I like my team mates idea (Rooster) cause it is a good middle ground. I can have my paint and change it too. But only so many times, then I gotta buy some more. It's part of the emergence. I have to pay for everything else (using in game cash) But since this isn't PtW Paint is the best way to make a buck.
Really? A $1-$3 micro transaction for pizzazz is undesirable? I buy paint to make My minis pretty. But when I see a cooler scheme I have to repaint my Mini. I also have to buy more paint. That is time and effort I have to pay. Click a button and boom you are a new shiny Mech. I just don't understand how "cheap" you guys sound.
To all you people who like to keep saying PGI needs to make money, thats what the chart in the first post is for. It actually shows PGI would likely make more than 5 times as much money overall if they gave players a better value for what they are spending. (more sales = more money)
You can charge 100$ for a pack of gum, but you're not going to make more money than someone selling it for 1$ because no one wants to buy your overpriced gum. (exaggerated for effect)
The idea why people also pay to repaint houses, cars or you have to buy more paint for your minis, is that there is labor involved. A physically time consuming task. There is no labor involved in applying the skin to the mech. There is labor in its initial creation, but it does not have to be recreated for each of the possibly thousands or millions of applications, unlike if you were to repaint every MWO player's minis they owned. Also there is the idea that technically we don't even own our in-game items or accounts, as I'm sure like with most online games, you can't really sell your account in the same way you could paint and re-sell your minis.
Edit: Technically this is besides the point anyways, considering the idea is that, first and foremost, this is financially beneficial for PGI to change.
Although granted I feel like the added enjoyment factor with a change brought and the negative feelings many players like myself associate with this type of decision the way it currently stands (feels scummy) are worth taking into account to because they can have impacts on the longevity and player base of the game which is hard to calculate so simply.
